Obsessing over the fucking Royal Wedding?!

P L E A S E

I’m dreading tomorrow. I drive in residential areas to get to my old dears, no doubt I’ll be held up by bastarding street parties and other nonsense.

OP posts:
kateandme · 18/05/2018 14:26

its that all tv programmed will be over run with it.from morning till night.and then all the next days reviewing it. and then if meghan puts a foot wrong the fire people will spit at her I think im going to find really uncomfortable.

BrendasUmbrella · 18/05/2018 14:27

I posted a Royal wedding thread of my own just to spite ya Grin

I am looking forward to it. We're not going to see this kind of pageantry and fuss again now until George/Charlotte/Louis marry - not in a positive sense anyway...

ProperLavs · 18/05/2018 14:27

I've always thought that the Queen looks spectacularly awful in her dresses. Christ knows who designs her outfits. Mind you the she has always looked frumpy, even as a young woman.

BrendasUmbrella · 18/05/2018 14:29

Actually I think it's quite poignant that this will probably be the last time we see The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at an event filmed for the public to watch. I've made myself a bit sad now.

RoseWhiteTips · 18/05/2018 14:30

I actually agree with those who thinks the Queen looks cool in her outfits - outfits being the correct term!
She has her own style. Credit.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/05/2018 14:30

I quite like a Royal wedding, seeing what the bride and guests are wearing etc.

But this one seems to have brought out the worst in the tabloids and in the Mumsnetters who believe every word they say. Granted the brides family haven't exactly covered themselves in glory but she's hardly to blame for that!

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 18/05/2018 14:30

All the moaning minnies on this thread can do one.
What's more uplifting than a good old British royal wedding on a (hopefully) gorgeous day?
Or would you rather another day of miserable news about Brexit, the economy, Trump, N. Korea, etc?
This country NEEDS some good news and some fun. I'm all for it.

RoseWhiteTips · 18/05/2018 14:30

Not a royalist, btw.

RoseWhiteTips · 18/05/2018 14:31

...who think...

Lweji · 18/05/2018 14:32

You can't. Even our main national TV channel in Portugal is showing it.

Alas, I have a kids' football game to attend tomorrow morning.

MiggeldyHiggins · 18/05/2018 14:33

You can stop what you want. Other people can be interested if they want. See how it works?

mydietstartsmonday · 18/05/2018 14:33

I am really looking forward to tomorrow.
I must gout and buy some pimms, champagne and smoked salmon bilinis. I might even bake a cake.

A friend is coming for the weekend & we will have our own little party watching the royal wedding.

Good luck Megan & Harry, hope it all goes well despite the upheaval over the last few days.

Missing the point of the thread completely......

SamanthaBrique · 18/05/2018 14:34

I think the queen has her own unique look that no one else could get away with and it suits her. But I do find it amusing that no matter what brightly coloured outfit she wears, she accessorises with the same sensible black shoes every time! At her age I guess comfort is paramount.

Iftheshoefits · 18/05/2018 14:35

Good day to go shopping thou as saddos will be watching it. Yeah -watching all that money from our taxes goin fown the drain..... Don't get me started... I'm offski...

Lweji · 18/05/2018 14:36

Maybe Harry will have another wedding in a few years, according to the voices of doom.

One what?

Notso · 18/05/2018 14:43

FFS I thought I'd avoided all the royal wedding threads. This is just a stealth one Hmm can't you add a trigger warning?

No. I'm enjoying it - there's a bit of drama and scandal, and what's not to like about ANY wedding? It makes a change from hearing about fucking Brexit, and gives us all a chance to focus on something happy, that frankly won't affect any of us plebs even if it does all goes tits up. I shall be stuffing my face with cake and getting happily shit-faced on six quid prosecco come tomorrow lunchtime Wine.

roseblossom75 · 18/05/2018 14:57

I haven't heard anyone in the real world mention it today.

MrsPreston11 · 18/05/2018 14:59

Apparently you can't stop, no....

pigsDOfly · 18/05/2018 15:03

I've actually managed to completely avoid anything about this wedding by dint of not listening to the news when they start on about it and not reading anything about it. The only time I've read anything about it is on MN.

It was from MN that I learned earlier this week that it is happening tomorrow, it's from MN that I learned that her family are doing rather a lot of weird things, although I couldn't tell you what those things are or who her family consists of, apart from that she has mother and father and some siblings; all learned from MN.

I'm going to do a bit of shopping for the dog tomorrow when all the hooha is going on and hoping that the roads will be quieter than usual.

So OP, if you want it to stop, you can make it stop by ignoring it.

BrendasUmbrella · 18/05/2018 15:05

DDs school had a Royal Wedding tea party yesterday afternoon. Lots of children left the building in paper Harry/Meghan masks. It looked half cute, half creepy.

Kaykay06 · 18/05/2018 15:11

So you’re not interested and you don’t care so you want to talk about being disinterested and not caring? I’m confused. Just get on with your day/life don’t talk about it etc and I imagine you will survive till Sunday without having it bother you....

RoseWhiteTips · 18/05/2018 15:13

Yes! Quite right too. Perhaps her shoes have to match her Launer bags which are usually black. (I am assuming she has more than one.)
