Cheeky or smart?

So my friend has just admitted to me that if she is approaching a roundabout and there is a lot of traffic in the left lane, and the right line is clear, she will go into the right lane, bypass the traffic going left, go ALL the way around the roundabout then simply come indicate and leave the roundabout on the original exit she wished to go down. Therefore skipping all the cars waiting patiently to go left!

She says that “technically she did all the way round which is what the right lane is for.”

We live in a town where most roundabouts have a very busy left lane during rush hour, whereas the right lane which leads into the more rural routes is normally empty.

So is this unreasonable and cheeky, or smart?

I’ve only been driving two years and quite frankly wouldn’t do this.

I do this sometimes.

Where I live there's a dual carriageway ring road and you have to filter to traffic lights to turn right into the trading estate where the main shops are. Most days the queue backs up a good quarter of a mile, so I go past to the next roundabout and enter the park from the other direction which always flows nicely. Not cheeky imo, just problem solving.

I do this! Not often anymore as I don't use a suitable roundabout, but I used to do this if there was a queue on the way to my previous job. Saves so much time!

Cheeky for doing it but maybe others are daft for sitting in a queue with a perfectly legal alternative. I sometimes do, sometimes don't. Depends on my mood.

If I'm not sure which lane to be in I'll always go in the right so that I can go all the way around again if I miss the correct turning. I don't do it so that I can skip the queue though.

I do this Blush
