AIBU to think this is an odd thing to say about a child?

(NB: I'm entirely aware that this has nothing to do with me but I couldn't help but notice it in passing and wondered if it was me just being judgmental and I should have a bit of a word with myself! or if it is, rightly, weird Confused )

I have a friend on facebook who I don't speak to often but I know she has recently got a new boyfriend as it popped up on my facebook feed. She has two children from a previous relationship, one is a young girl aged about five. She posted a photo of her little girl on Facebook earlier on.

Her boyfriend commented beneath, 'she's my second girlfriend she is, love her!'

is that not a weird thing to say about a little girl? I can't imagine women saying 'he's my second husband!' about little boys... just feels a bit odd. Again, wondering if it's me, I know it's accepted for people to say 'little man' or similar.

Just wondering..

Weird.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 12/05/2018 18:51

Oh God no...that's fucked up!

boymum9 · 12/05/2018 18:53

Really odd

feelinggoodinspring · 12/05/2018 18:53

Eww

Strongmummy · 12/05/2018 18:54

It’s a bit cringe worthy and I’m assuming he meant that he enjoys being with her (?) and nothing dodgy. I’d hope if he’d taken some time to think about what he was writing , he wouldn’t have written that

findingmyfeet12 · 12/05/2018 18:54

He might be trying to innocently show how much he cares about her dc but it just came out very weird.

Neversayever · 12/05/2018 18:54

It’s weird. But then I see people refer to their children as sexy.

I don’t think they’re paedophiles, just a bit thick.

rainbowruthie · 12/05/2018 18:56

Oh no I really don't like that at all

Perfectpair · 12/05/2018 19:10

What a strange thing to say. Are his comments usually this off?

PrettyLovely · 12/05/2018 19:13

Yuck, Sad

Birdsgottafly · 12/05/2018 19:40

He's possibly, in a clumsily way trying to say that he loves her to bits, without stepping on the dad's toes. Or it's an in joke because that's the age when children think of Adults that they are close to, but not related to, as their Boy/Girlfriend.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/05/2018 19:41

It's a very unfortunate choice of words, but hopefully he is a lovely man and truly didn't mean it to sound so weird.

Soubriquet · 12/05/2018 19:41

I think it's badly worded but it's supposed to sound sweet so I wouldn't take it badly

Ohyesiam · 12/05/2018 19:42

Ewwwwwwe

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 12/05/2018 19:42

Probably poorly phrased. Paedophiles are more manipulative in my experience.

altiara · 12/05/2018 19:43

Yeah, think he’s trying to say he loves her or she’s a lovely child but came out a bit odd.

Whatififall · 12/05/2018 19:43

Weird.

pigsDOfly · 12/05/2018 19:47

Sounds like a slightly clumsy way of saying he's fond of her. If he had horrible intentions towards her I doubt he'd be advertising it on his girlfriend's FB page.

And the second husband thing isn't quite the same, he's not saying she's my second wife.

rodstewartsmerkin · 12/05/2018 20:04

I think he’s trying to say that he’s close to her.

Just a clumsy way of saying it.
