a growler 😂

CremeDeLaCrap · 12/05/2018 22:10

A man once stopped to talk to me when I had newborn DS out in the pram.

He asked me if DS was "on the tit".

Hmm
BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 22:12

Yes, the whole thread has been worth seeing that a vagina can be called a growler!

MaisyPops · 12/05/2018 22:13

w12
I like milk drunk as a phrase. It sums it up perfectly.

paradyning · 12/05/2018 22:17

Giving baby their bop anyone? Fucking hate that.

WeWere0nABreak · 12/05/2018 22:17

Bustopher - didn't you know that? It's also what my dad calls pork pies.

It has been explained to him.

He just doesn't care!

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 22:24

First time I’ve ever heard it! WTF pork pies too?!

Bambamber · 12/05/2018 22:24

Each to their own

I normally say my baby needs a feed or baby needs some milk. I have referred to it as boob milk before, and have probably said I need to give baby some boob. I've never posted a photo of me breastfeeding and I never intend to. I don't have a 'breastfeeding journey' (not sure i even know what that is). I cover up when feeding and tend to find a quiet corner where possible. I will also likely still be breastfeeding when my DD is 2 (partially due to recommendations by her cosbuktants) and knowing my luck still be feeding during the night too. Not one single fuck will be given

RadioGaGoo · 12/05/2018 22:26

Your Dad calls Pork Pies 'growlers' Wewere?

I hope he never offers anyone a bite.

WeWere0nABreak · 12/05/2018 22:29

Oh aye!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_pie

He also insists on calling the radio "the wireless" (which, to be fair, is technically accurate again these days!) and motorway service stations "trannies" Hmm

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 22:29

I also hate the word ‘kiddies’ I have no problem with ‘kids’. Absolute least favourite is ‘screen time’ though. Except maybe ‘parenting’.

Lilsquish · 12/05/2018 22:52

I combi fed and sometimes referred to my breastmilk as 'mummy milk' to distinguish between that and formula.

But this reference was 100% only used in the presence of my OH, i wouldnt have used that term in public!

But yes, boobing the baby does sound like you are plonking ur breast on them :-D

ForceItDown · 12/05/2018 22:59

Yes, the whole thread has been worth seeing that a vagina can be called a growler!

Was this meant to be sarcastic? Or..?

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 23:05

Is it a really common word for it? How have I missed it?

TurquoiseDress · 12/05/2018 23:27

Growler GrinGrin🤣🤣

I've not heard that word used for a long time- I've actually laughed out loud!!

Time to step away from this thread on a high note!

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 23:30

*Growler gringrin🤣🤣

I've not heard that word used for a long time-*

Ahh, so I’m just youthful, rather than dim... good to know.

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 23:31

But too dim to bold a quote!

There is always one .

This was a light hearted thread ffs .

Anyway the over whelming majority have said yanbu and I thank you all for that .
And yes I stand by no two year old "needs" breast feeding at night .
Absolute fact . At that age it's a want and a habit not a " need "

OP posts:
anxiousmumma12 · 13/05/2018 09:29

Same goes for needing a bottle at night to .

If they are thirsty they can have some water from a cup

OP posts:
Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 13/05/2018 09:30

Whenever someone talks about "boobing baby to sleep" I picture a baby being bludgeoned over the head with a giant inflatable breast until they pass out.

Milky snuggles is worse though, I feel soiled just typing that.

bbqseason · 13/05/2018 09:30

Sometimes my 2yo wants a cuddle. Doesn't need a cuddle. Should I therefore refuse to give him cuddles?

anxiousmumma12 · 13/05/2018 09:32

Depends .
They don't need a cuddle every hour at night no .

My point is they don't need feeding over night at 2 year olds and that is correct .

OP posts:
DeltaG · 13/05/2018 10:34

Sometimes a two year old wants to eat a whole packet of biscuits or run onto the dual carriageway. Doesn't need to do either, but wants to. Should we therefore refuse them? Confused

Shame this light-hearted thread got somewhat de-railed by insecure, precious types.

FWIW I sometimes say "change the baby's bum". Quite a few people seem not to like that phrase. Doesn't bother me, I don't feel a need to get all defensive about it.
