Seamus well put

SharronNeedles · 12/05/2018 21:26

anxious ah! I didn't realise you knew every single 2 year old and their requirements!!

RadioGaGoo · 12/05/2018 21:40

Its not worth my effort to cringe over something like this. I may stir myself to make a half hearted effort to cringe over some of the snobbery on here that Hyacinth Bucket herself would be proud of.

MaisyPops · 12/05/2018 21:44

Also, the slagging off of women posting photos of themselves breastfeeding on Facebook for theirfriendsand family to share in aren't showing off, from personal experience it's an act of solidarity and support for other women breastfeeding and facing a lack of support from family, friends etc and being made to feel shit for breastfeeding. Also, it is something to be proud of, so they are sharing an achievement to be celebrated by others. But sure, mock them because it's not the way you did it.
People aren't mocking because it might be different to how they did it.
They are mocking because continually posting about whatever particular choice you've made is ridiculous (see also some vegans who post daily about how awful animal products are / a certain type of home ed parent who loves posting endless semi-inspirational quotes up about how much more free their child is than people cooped up ib mean nasty school)

A photo where you happen to be breastfeeding? Fine.
The odd 'look at how awesome it is to breastfeed' photo? Fine.
Repeated photos of your tit with endless 'inspirational' quotes about how magical your journey is? Nobody cares. Feed your baby and move on.

RadioGaGoo · 12/05/2018 21:45

Thank GOD DeltaG let us all know that her 2 year old sleeps 12 hours straight.

Grandmaswagsbag · 12/05/2018 21:45

Oh surprise, the thread has turned into a slagging off fest of breastfeeding mums. Not liking the term boobing doesn’t really have any reflection on your feelings about the act of breastfeeding surely? Happy to admit I dislike the term but I still enjoyed breastfeeding my toddler.

ethelfleda · 12/05/2018 21:47

Yep. How predictable. No wonder we are massively in the minority!

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 21:48

I hate baby wearing - they’re a person, not a scarf! But the other day I heard someone say their baby wouldn’t sleep ‘so I had to sling him’ harsh!

ShackUp · 12/05/2018 21:48

'A militant breast feeder'

What an incredibly offensive way to describe a mother who's feeding her baby. How ignorant.

There's a lot of fucking sour grapes on this thread. Respect people's choices, for fucks sake. The word 'boob' is just a slang word for a breast, no-one is shoving anything in anyone's face apart from a boob

Grandmaswagsbag · 12/05/2018 21:49

I hate the term baby wearing too! It makes them sound like an accessory.

Carboholic · 12/05/2018 21:53

I really dislike the way you use interpunction, OP. So yuck, much cringe.

Also: boob boob boobity boob!!

SharronNeedles · 12/05/2018 21:55

It's dickish threads like this that make breastfeeding mothers want to shove it in your face.

We all do whatever it takes to get through the the fucking day. Who gives a shit if we call it boobing, breastfeeding, bottling, scranning, titting etc? Just be fucking nice!

MaisyPops · 12/05/2018 21:57

It's not dickish to dislike some expressions.

Dear me, dislike some cheesy expressions = you must hate breast feeding and want to shame all women who choose to feed their baby in a certain way.

midnightmisssuki · 12/05/2018 21:58

I hate the word ‘yuck’ and ‘cringe’ ... It sounds like a teenager talking. To each his own OP Smile

Alexkate2468 · 12/05/2018 21:58

I've always called it milk to my toddler but somehow he's picked up the word boob and shouts it even he wants milk. I think it's cute. I live his cheeky grin as he says it. I have become a boober and he boobs. We are proud and really don't care what anyone else thinks.

Grandmaswagsbag · 12/05/2018 22:00

you must hate breast feeding and want to shame all women who choose to feed their baby in a certain way.

To be fair Maisy it didnt take long for those comments to creep in on what should be a pretty lighthearted thread about slightly cringe baby related expressions. Now makes me wonder what the ops motive was.

ForceItDown · 12/05/2018 22:01

bottle the baby Grin

Is the method of feeding really an essential part of the statement? Probably not (unless thr main point of the statement is 'look I breastfeed!!!)

Definitely, that's how it looks anyway.

BustopherJones · 12/05/2018 22:02

DP occasionally asks me ‘are you breastfeeding him?’ about our ebf 3 month old... why doesn’t he just say feeding?

MaisyPops · 12/05/2018 22:02

There were a few of them.
There were also a few slightly ridiculous ones saying that not liking the phrase boobing is another way to ridicule women who have difficult breastfeeding journeys.

Meanwhile I think most of us (breastfeeders or bottle feeders) were thinking yeah those phrases annoy me too / in my experience people who use cringey phrases like that also... with zero issue with how anyone feeds their child.

SeamusMacDubh · 12/05/2018 22:03

Some people really seem to have an axe to grind when it comes to breastfeeding even though it has absolutely nothing to do with them whatsoever.

A PP mentioned upthread that this isn't the only post regarding breastfeeding OP has commented on today.

RadioGaGoo · 12/05/2018 22:04

All those mothers with their 'giving the baby his/her bottle' making points with their statements.

w12newmum · 12/05/2018 22:05

Not a fan of boobing (especially boob monsters), cloth bumming or babywearing but I do all three. I do like milk drunk though and indifferent to bumchanges.

SeamusMacDubh · 12/05/2018 22:07

I know, Radio, won't they give it a rest with all the bottle dropping to make sure we know how they feed?

Don't get me started on when they ask for water to warm a bottle in a cafe or start mixing the bottle right there at the table next to me while I'm trying to enjoy a coffee!!!!

Hmm
SecretIsland · 12/05/2018 22:09

This.

captainproton · 12/05/2018 22:09

My 2 year old can’t pronounce ‘breast’ but has for a very long time been able to say, ‘boob’. She can’t also say ‘water’ and pronounced it ‘way’. I also have infant school children and my eldest now callsher vagina her, ‘noo’ after copying friends from school. I have also started spelling my name in ‘Fred talk’ when adults ask me.

Unfortunately as I spend a lot of time with young children I have ended up copying them and use their lingo for an easy life.

So yes I boob! I have a noo and I drink lots of way. And I am bloody good at phonics!!
