Hear it so much on mumsnet

' boob milk "
' boob the baby '

Yuck yuck so cringe

Just say breast feeding or breast milk

I also hate “let’s change your bum”. My MIL says this to my son and I agree it sounds so common and just horrible, never mind the fact it doesn’t make sense

RedDwarves · 12/05/2018 13:14

I hate it. Sets my teeth on edge.

What happened to “feeding the baby”. Why does it matter whether it’s from a breast or bottle? No one says “I’m going to bottle the baby”.

whiteonesugar · 12/05/2018 13:15

Surely you’re just feeding the baby. I heard someone tell her child ‘let’s just give you a quick breast feed’ in a cafe once and I don’t understand why she didn’t just say ‘let’s feed you’ or something. Sounded a bit like she wanted to let other people know she breastfed.

whiteonesugar · 12/05/2018 13:15

@RedDwarves cross post! 😂

Slippery · 12/05/2018 13:17

YOUR = belongs to you
YOU'RE = you are

No one is going to take you seriously if you can't grasp this simple concept, particularly after it's been pointed out to you already. Twice.

Lovestonap · 12/05/2018 13:18

also hate 'my baby is a real boob-monster'

eurghhh.

MaisyPops · 12/05/2018 13:20

People I know who say 'boobing the baby' are also people who regularly post endless images about breastfeeding om Facebook (and worse, lots of side shots of their boob with baby attached with a tree of life or whatever it's called on top of it).
We get it, you love breastfeeding.

I've never heard that but it is very strange.
My Mil used to call my little ones dummy a tit.
Ie. "Does baby (name) want his tit" Confused
We got rid of the dummy fast thank God 😂

Steeley113 · 12/05/2018 13:24

I agree, can’t they just say feed? Bottling the baby sounds dodgey Grin I’m guilty of changing bums though Blush

Steeley113 · 12/05/2018 13:24

@SunshineAfterRain my best friends kids called their dummies ‘titties’ Grin

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 12/05/2018 13:27

I can't get worked up about it to be honest. And if anything the sneery attitude towards it annoys me more, because it just sounds so snobby.

SunshineAfterRain · 12/05/2018 13:29

Aww bless Steeley113 I am sure it's cute though since they are still little.
Just hope they don't should it too loud outside 😂😂
My Mil shouting tit is defiantly not cute 😂😂

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 12/05/2018 13:29

So fucking what if anxious has mis-spelled something, she isn't criticising other people's spelling is she?

Bit of a low blow really.

0lgaDaPolga · 12/05/2018 13:31

Yep. I’ve met so many mums on maternity leave that talk like this and it’s so cringey.

I’m just giving the baby some boob
I’ll boob him to sleep
He’s a booby monster
Milky snuggles 🤢

You are feeding your baby. What is the point of describing it like this?!

postwoman · 12/05/2018 13:32

It's just slang, I don't particularly like it myself but I think some of you feel quite superior in your passionate hatred for it.

ICantCopeAnymore · 12/05/2018 13:32

I take you seriously, OP and I'm a teacher. I understand people get confused over grammar and sometimes autocorrect takes over.

Goodness me.

WeWere0nABreak · 12/05/2018 13:35

What - ah no, he just thought it was funny to tease me. He liked me feeding her as it kept us both out of his way for a bit of peace and quiet a few times a day. I fed her for 18 months until the "thucking" turned to "biting" and then believe me, i stopped cold turkey!!!

SoftSheen · 12/05/2018 13:37

When DS was a small baby, we would sometimes stop at a coffee shop so I could breastfeed him. I would have a Flat White, 4 year old DD would have a Babychino and DS would have a Boobychino Grin (invented by DD, not me)

bialystockandbloom · 12/05/2018 13:37

All of these phrases are utterly revolting, but then I hate the word boob full stop, to me it evokes a combination of page 3 and prissiness.

I think if I ever heard someone in all seriousness say "milky cuddles" I might throw up on them. 🤮

bialystockandbloom · 12/05/2018 13:39

Lol at "arsewipes" Grin

Grandmaswagsbag · 12/05/2018 13:40

Agree it’s cringe and so is ‘changing bums’. Yuck yuck yuck.

MoonFacesMum · 12/05/2018 13:43

I’ve heard spew rag for muslin.

Rainydaydog · 12/05/2018 13:45

I don't like the word cringe.

Sallystyle · 12/05/2018 13:47

My friend calls her baby's dummy a 'plug'. I don't mind that.

Boobing the baby does make me cringe.

Bottling the baby would be 😱
