Are there any that make you cringe ? Mine would be:

Lush
Snacky
Yummy

All the chat about “CFs” on here just makes my toes curl!

angryburd · 12/05/2018 22:38

Families referring to themselves as "Team Surname"

Fuck right off.

WeWere0nABreak · 12/05/2018 22:39

Bae.

It makes me want to butcher things.

Papergirl1968 · 12/05/2018 23:28

I love my mom to bits but some of the things she says drive me mad and require mental translation.
Sharp pop for fizzy drink.
Running buffet instead of just saying buffet.
Basket when she means supermarket trolley.
Books when she means magazines.

Sophronia · 12/05/2018 23:34

Grampy or Gramps
Bump

InsomniacAnonymous · 12/05/2018 23:50

Papergirl1968 'Sharp pop' sounds very strange to me. Where's your mom from?

toriatoriatoria · 13/05/2018 00:13

Gawjuss/gorjuss - either one, both make me cringe.

user1867895 · 13/05/2018 02:13

It is actually paining me to write this but I cannot abide hearing the words:
smelly,
stinky
or fart.

Cousinit · 13/05/2018 02:32

In agreement with most of these but would add to the list:

"So" when used to start a sentence.
"Also" when used at the end of a sentence. I'm seeing this so often these days and it really gives me the rage for some reason!

echt · 13/05/2018 02:35

Wellness, especially in the workplace. It always means cake, instead of actually doing something about workload/conditions.
Impact as an intransitive verb
Medal as a verb
Here's a new one: versed, as is "played against".
Farewell as a verb

IMBU · 13/05/2018 02:51

'Supper'. It reminds me of my awful MIL. If they ever have fish and chips for dinner she always describes it as a 'fish and chip supper'. It just sounds like one of those words you use when you are trying desperately to sound posh.

angryburd · 13/05/2018 03:04

The word "pot" as in a pension pot, paying into the pot, etc.

PlatypusPie · 13/05/2018 03:10

Furbaby
Grandkids
Playdate
’Welcoming their child ‘ as in announcing a birth. Images of a parade of flags and shaking a very small hand in greeting.
Cringe when used as ‘that’s so cringe’ rather than the active verb.

PlatypusPie · 13/05/2018 03:13

Sharp pop

Papergirl1968 - I’ve never come across that before. Is it a regional thing ?

MrsBouvier · 13/05/2018 03:49

Botty

1forAll74 · 13/05/2018 04:48

Slime
Mucus
Bile
Shagging

JAPAB · 13/05/2018 05:04

sodomy

Booie09 · 13/05/2018 06:40

Hun
Babes
Amazeballs
Fakeaway
Totaly
Date Night

Clubcuts · 13/05/2018 06:56

Kinda
Cuppa
Nom

😡

BeekyChitch · 13/05/2018 07:00

I was talking to a guy who said ‘Awhs’ instead of ‘awww’ but used it unnecessarily. Eg. “ Awhs you watching tv?” This made me feel so uneasy and safe to say I never met him!

Magmatic80 · 13/05/2018 07:11

Hun or lovely when used towards me by a colleague I barely speak to ‘thanks lovely’. No, I am doing my job because I am a professional, I wasn’t doing you a favour. Grrr. Don’t mind lovely when it’s someone I’m fond of though, but hun can always fuck off.
Luv - you either feel enough to write ‘love’ or you just write ‘from’. Grrr
I hate using the word ‘boyfriend’. Always have. It just sounds so clunky. Before I got to ‘partner’ stage I had to re-organise phrasing to say ‘I’m his girlfriend’, or I referred to them as ‘my boy’, which was only marginally less painful.

Magmatic80 · 13/05/2018 07:13

Oh, and ‘to the moon and back’ makes me want to heave.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/05/2018 07:18

'Hip' - so often seen in travel supplements about hotels.

Puts me right off immediately. Although it usually means expensive for some eco-chic or other-trendy-chic reason (enough to put me off anyway) it makes me think of scruffy old stoned 60s hippy types with beads, giving you a reverse V sign and saying, 'Peace, man!'

ButtermilkBiscuits · 13/05/2018 07:18

Moist 🤢

ePurSiMuove · 13/05/2018 07:20
