Bloody Just Eat suppliers are their deliveries always held up?

OK just waited two hours for a delivery of pizzas. The shop moved the time half an hour back, so thought they must be busy. After an hour and a half, when we tried to phone engaged tone contacted Just Eat who also failed to get through on three numbers. Am I unlucky or is it a waste of time to expect deliveries, should I just go out and get food.

Just Eat is just the interface through which you order from the pizza restaurant directly, isn't it? Not like Deliveroo who collect it for you from places that don't deliver themselves.

So it's the pizza place that has the problem, not Just Eat.

As a PP said.

Just Eat is just a website that facilitates the ordering. Once you order it goes directly to the restaurant so any delay is the restaurant.

That said if they have put the order back that long so would think it isn't coming.

I know Just Eat are the middle man, my question really is am I wasting my time with this type of online ordering, is it a nationwide problem or am I just unlucky, last time we ordered a chinese from another restaurant that took an hour and a half.

I don't think the fact you ordered through Just Eat is the issue - I think it's just a slow/ busy pizza place.

theycallmebabydriver · 11/05/2018 22:44

Have you actually been to the restaurant you are ordering from? It was on watchdog a while back that what a lot of places do on just eat is to register a random postal address in a number of areas in order to expand the number potential customers that can see them in a search but they are actually delivering from a lot further away (hence it takes an age to get to you).

If you have deliveroo or uber eats then i would avoid just eat altogether. If you have issues with a restaurant they couldn't give less of a toss (voice of bitter experience)

You're just unlucky - I've ordered takeaways via Just Eat from a lot of different restaurants in my area and they always arrive either bang on time or way before - like 30 minutes early.

Have had much, much worse experiences with Deliveroo - waiting 2 hours only for them to tell us "sorry, there's no drivers in the area"...

welshmist · 11/05/2018 22:52

Yes the restaurant is a well known local one, as was the Chinese I ordered from a while back. We do not have deliveroo or uber here sadly. I guess you are right restaurants do not care. Unlike the trip advisor comments, complaints are unheard. I suppose I shall just have to go out. Was awkward tonight to do so because OH was out and son had taken over kitchen to groom the dog so just thought it would be easier to order in. (bangs head)

I ordered a pizza through Just Eat a few weeks ago. It gave me a delivery estimate of 2+ hours. I rang the shop direct and they told me I could pick it up in 15 mins or wait 30 for delivery. Just Eat is crap in my opinion.

Weezol · 12/05/2018 01:19

I recommend calling the take away's landline and ordering direct.

Friends have used JustEat app to order food for us when at my house (three different local places, one of them three times) - without fail, 1.5 to two hours late. The days/times made no odds. None of the take aways are more than 15 minutes drive away.

I have since ordered from each of them direct, and they all delivered within the time they promised, piping hot.

Weezol · 12/05/2018 01:22

X post with Harriet. I thought it might be a local issue, but it seems not!

bungaloid · 12/05/2018 05:41

I always feel like a lot of small independent takeaways are not very slick with their ability to run a decent delivery service. Places like Dominos are much more consistent in my experience.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 12/05/2018 07:35

Our local Indian prioritised collections and direct orders over just eat and add at least half an hour. They told me that themselves while I waited for my order. All the just eat orders went on a seperate pile

RoughPatchMum · 12/05/2018 07:53

After a few bad experiences we have gone back to phoning and ordering direct. Never/rarely have problems that way, and the restaurant is happier because they don’t have to pay a commission to just eat.

magnetiq · 13/05/2018 18:49

only I wondered if that might be the case. If I can I use just eat to browse menus then order direct from then on

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 13/05/2018 19:01

Just Eat is a big bag of wank & deliveries through them take an eternity. Easier to order direct.
