...and flossing your teeth on the tube is one of them?

food not foot. She’d need more than floss to remove a foot Grin

Whitesea · 12/05/2018 11:21

I have moved seats rather than sit beside someone eating an apple.

ParisUSM · 12/05/2018 11:44

Can I ask why Whitesea? I eat apples all the time on buses, granted I'm on a quiet bus so people rarely have to sit beside someone else. Am I really annoying people by doing so?

MaryPeary · 12/05/2018 12:08

It seems I should just feign unconsciousness just in case I offend someone on the bus.
Works for the Japanese Grin.
Although, my Japanese friend said people do some odd things that you wouldn't do here, such as young women lying down for a nap on the platform of the Tokyo subway. Imagine having a tube platform clean enough to do that!

Whitesea · 12/05/2018 12:26

I dislike hearing people crunch apples. Also crisps. Also hard sweets. I suppose I dislike hearing people in close proximity eat food that makes noise when taking a bite initially or grinding hard food such as sweets.

SamanthaBrique · 12/05/2018 12:34

There's a name for that - misophonia?

Perhaps Jeremy Corbyn's idea of reintroducing "ladies only" carriages could be expanded to a ladies' mirrored grooming carriage, an anti-social men's carriage, (two might be needed) and a dining car. All the remaining carriages to be phone-free zones.

@SamanthaBrique
*Erm no, it's got nothing to do with the cleanliness of their instruments and everything to do with nail dust from when they're removing acrylics or filing. Plus there's the smell of all the nail products.

And they're usually Vietnamese in the salons you refer to, not "Chinese or Japanese".*

I didn't say they wore masks because they were unhygienic. I said they wore masks AND were unhygienic. Have a read.

And the 5 salons I visited with my friend 3 were Chinese, 2 were Vietnamese. Thank you.

Very minor compared to some of the horrors mentioned, but my heart sinks when someone gets on the train with a bag of just purchased burger and fries. It just stinks. Vile.

PickAChew · 12/05/2018 19:12

It's slurping noises I can't stand.

Autistic Ds2 started to get overstimulated and very chatty and animated on a bus, the other week and the guy behind us started swearing at us. In an unusually cool frame of mind (because I usually end up shaking in a confrontational situation) I turned round and asked him if he thought that was going to cure his autism. He carried on swearing at me until I pointed out that I'd spent the past 20 minutes having to listen to him slurp his sweets.

Didn't hear another word from him for the rest of the journey and funnily enough, ds2 calmed right down so all the slurping and grunting and chomping must have been contributing to his overexcited and obsessive state.

GrannyHaddock · 12/05/2018 19:13

No, Lucisky it's not minor. You're right, it stinks and it's selfish and thoughtless. Eat it outside the station, or in the platform if you must, but DON'T bring it into the train!

pigaletta · 12/05/2018 19:26

I’ve been near people on both a bus and a plane while they eat Tayto (NI) Cheese and Onion crisps 🤢 just baffles me!! The most pungent stink imaginable (delicious in the privacy of your own home though 😍)

I think that is an excellent idea, @GrannyHaddock; we'd have a far happier population!
