To think it's ridiculous to ask for sponsorship for a baby to complete tasks

I understand that charities need fundraisers but isn't it taking the piss to ask people to sponsor an 8 month old baby to do 'tasks' such as 'push the button on a toy'.

If the parents want to raise funds then 'do' something.

Asking people to pay for your child doing random things that they have no idea they are doing, whilst well intended, seems completely ridiculous to me.

It’s the same as sitting in a tub of beans or even running a marathon. Give or don’t give. There shouldn’t have to be a silly pretext.

I guess my point is that in most instances people raising funds are putting themselves out to a certain extent.

I agree there's a whole other argument if it's their hobby etc.

In this instance the person people are sponsoring i.e., a baby, won't even have a clue what going on.

I haven't come across that particular fundraiser yet!

The ones that annoy me the most are the 'sponsor me to go on holiday to Tanzania because I'm going to go to an orphanage and hug children' ones

blimey jedediah, that's even worse!

How do you even prove it's happened?
