AIBU to think this might give me food poisoning?

I just put two frozen pizzas in the open. I think I might then have forgotten to wash my hands (really unusual for me as I have clinical ocd) and then eaten some crisps.

I thought that both of the pizzas were pepperoni so wasn't too worried but just noticed that one actually had sausage on it as well.

Would any "normal" person worry about this? Or AIBVU to be concerned that I might get food poisoning by transferring bacteria from the sausage on the pizza to my snack?!

You'll be fine. Relax

Doyoumind · 08/05/2018 18:25

You'll be fine.

Leeds2 · 08/05/2018 18:26

You will be absolutely fine.

booellesmum · 08/05/2018 18:27

I wouldn't worry.
Enjoy your pizza.

Chickychoccyegg · 08/05/2018 18:27

You'll be absolutely fine xx

60sname · 08/05/2018 18:27

I wouldn't worry about this, but if you need to rationalise it I'd say it's ok as all the meat was pre-cooked.

Huffinpuff · 08/05/2018 18:32

As 60s said, the meat (and everything else) on the pizza will be pre-cooked—you're just reheating it.

Haggisfish · 08/05/2018 18:34

You’ll be fine. Wouldn’t even occur to me to worry.

RadioDorothy · 08/05/2018 18:35

Don't panic. If there was a few bacteria on your hands when you transferred the pizzas to the oven, as long as they are piping hot when removed any nasties will be killed by the heat.

Storm4star · 08/05/2018 18:44

I wash my hands once prior to cooking and that's it! I will handle raw meat then maybe nibble a piece of cheese! Prepare a salad maybe! Honestly I never even considered the handling of raw meat thing until I saw it on another thread here a few weeks back. At that point I just shrugged my shoulders and thought oh well, been doing it for years so no need to change. None of us have ever had food poisoning from home cooked food. I don't recall my mother or grandmother washing their hands in between handling different foodstuffs so I guess that's why I never thought to do it either.

Oysterbabe · 08/05/2018 18:47

Not sure I'm a normal person but it wouldn't have crossed my mind that it might even be an issue. I do A LOT worse all the time and am always fine.

SecretIsland · 08/05/2018 18:51

Bloody hell storm, handling raw meat and then touching other foods like salad is just plain stupid.

Feed a young child and have a bit of bad luck and you could quite literally kill someone.

Storm4star · 08/05/2018 19:08

Well, weirdly my grandmother made it to her 90s, my mum is going strong in her 70s and my kids made it to adults unscathed so I really don't see that it's such a big risk.

Nothisispatrick · 08/05/2018 19:11

Firstly, you are not cooking the pizza, just reheating something precooked. It is not raw sausage.

Secondly it's been frozen.

Oblomov18 · 08/05/2018 19:12

Eh?
Why would anyone normal worry about this?

Ohyesiam · 08/05/2018 19:13

You will be fine x

SmashedMug · 08/05/2018 19:17

Why would anyone normal worry about this?

The OPs post literally says why.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 08/05/2018 19:23

Oblomov18 read the OP and stop being a fucking arsehole Hmm

OP you will be fine, as PP says, it’s already cooked and you’re just reheating it. Hope you can enjoy your pizza Smile OCD is a bitch x

ScrubTheDecks · 08/05/2018 19:45

OP, cooked sausage on a pizza is not a risk to handle.

OP, don’t read this, it’s to Storm4 ! Storm4 please teach your own kids better hygiene. It isn’t just food poisoning, you could get parasites. And please don’t do it with chicken.

Extravagant · 08/05/2018 21:13

Absolutely fine. The pizzas were frozen and therefore were not carrying any bacteria (assuming that you hadn’t defrosted them before cooking). The meat on them wasn’t raw. It’s not like you rubbed your hands over raw chicken before eating crisps!
