On my first commute to my first paid job in well over a decade, (I have been volunteering for a few years)it's going to be hot, I feel sweaty. Sweaty handshakes, forgetting names, red face (I am ginger it comes when I am self conscious, hot, nervous). I am going to get through the day but aibu to be completely bricking it?! Probably not.

Good luck

No one will expect you to remember names

Just smile and be yourself

lljkk · 08/05/2018 08:13

You can do this!

NancyDonahue · 08/05/2018 08:16

Oh best of luck op. You'll be fine, no one will expect you to remember their name right away and your new colleagues will understand how you feel. Make sure you remember to drink plenty of fluids. Come back and let is know how it went Flowers

Best of luck, you will be great today. I let people know I am bad with names in advance! I think I wrote a sneaky desk plan to help me remember everyone's names. Totally natural to be bricking it, whether you are moving between jobs or going back to work after a long break. Just remember they wouldn't have given you the job if they didn't believe you could do it. They are lucky to have you!

See if you can grab yourself a mini fan, and good luck. Just think, in a couple of weeks time it will be routine, and you'll be wondering how to entertain yourself on the journey. Flowers

Made it through the day no disasters, a bit of a headache. Head mashed by info overload and slight sense of terror. But I got through the day. Just need to get through all the tomorrows!
