In response to one of Trump’s incoherent WITCH HUNT! tweets in the last 12 hours, Rep. Adam Schiff sent this:

Adam Schiff @RepAdamSchiff 12 hrs

Adam Schiff Retweeted Donald J. Trump

Given all the secret meetings with the Russians, the denials, the false statements, and the guilty pleas, your attacks on the Republican, respected, decorated, Vietnam Veteran running the investigation could not be more false, or transparent.

Giuliani is brilliant (frustrating) at grabbing and shaping the narrative. He was backtracking within minutes, but the media seemed enthralled again.

He can get away with it because Mueller is silent.

It's probably too much to hope that this is true:

BREAKING: Republican lobbyist just told me that Trump and his White House are “bracing” for indictments of Americans prob for conspiring against US & fraud. Likely to include Roger Stone, Sam Clovis, and more charges against Paul Manafort. Maybe Kushner and Don Jr. #TrumpColluded

He has reportedly been resisting detailed briefings about enrichment capabilities, plutonium reprocessing, nuclear weapons production, and missile programs

It's shocking that POTUS resists being briefed by experts, there won't be a POTUS in history who has been so resistant to learning about the whole picture of something so delicate. It's beyond me, I think he honestly thinks he's in charge of the world and can do what he wants or feels like

Lweji · 21/05/2018 10:34

Who cares about those details, when you can withdraw from and enter International Treaties just by proclaiming it on Twitter?

ohmymimi · 21/05/2018 11:24

Yes, Gump, and the way the narrative has evolved from 'it weren't me, gov'.', to 'ya boo sucks, you can't subpoena/indict El Presidente.' , plus the increasingly frenetic attempts to discredit FBI/DoJ, indicate Scumbucket can feel Mueller's hot breath on his neck

Lweji · 21/05/2018 11:32

Yes, very interesting summary by that Foreign Affairs article.

"The more important chess game for Beijing is not denuclearization but strategic competition with the United States."

Anything Asia related that doesn't take into account Chinese interests is highly misguided.

And Trump is being the proverbial bull in, ahem, china shop.

lionheart · 21/05/2018 11:33

The question is how far he will go when in full panic mode and how many of his minions will say, 'Yes, President.'

ohmymimi · 21/05/2018 12:24

Exactly, Lweji and lion, and, when it comes to self-protection, he's totally careless of consequences for others. This is far more dangerous as most repugs now are either too supine and/or driven by self interest/implicated in nefarious acts/scared to constrain him.

cozietoesie · 21/05/2018 15:21

Giuliani is trading on post 9/11 character capital that he amassed. He's nearly spent it all, I fear though.

Natsku · 21/05/2018 15:39

Trying to take a break from Trumpiness but then I see this in my junk mail - a dancing Trump bluetooth speaker and think maybe I'll catch up on the news (and of course come here to catch up, best curated sources)

Manafort again? You have to admire his energy if nothing else. How does one person even have time to commit that many crimes?

PerkingFaintly · 21/05/2018 15:53

Natsku! Lovely to see you!

Hope all well with your family, near and far.

PerkingFaintly · 21/05/2018 15:54

Also, loving the smiley pink QEII contrasted to angry orange crittur.

Manafort again? You have to admire his energy if nothing else. How does one person even have time to commit that many crimes?

Maybe it's like being caught speeding on a long motorway by a series of different speed cameras.

Once you get on a crime roll it's one long crime just broken into small bits that you are indicted for.

cozietoesie · 21/05/2018 16:06

Neat analogy, Lweji. Smile

ohmymimi · 21/05/2018 16:21

This is worrying and depressing:
'Supreme Court rules that your employer can require you to give up your right to bring a class action lawsuit against itor any lawsuitif you want a job' Gorsuch wrote the decision.
Trump effectAngryAngryAngry
'The advocacy in the case was changed by the political turnover in Washington. The National Labor Relations Board, an independent government agency, agreed with the workers. But after President Trump took office in 2017, the Justice Department switched sides, and filed a brief siding with the companies.'
RGBHaloHaloHalo
'Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dissented from the decision, joined by the court’s liberals. She underlined her objections by reading part of her dissent from the bench.'

In itself, demanding that an investigation is open isn't a bad thing. It should be perfectly reasonable to have whatever investigated.
The problem, IMO, is when there are hints of wanting to direct that investigation, or ensure an a priori result. Or when that given investigation is made to take precedence over or take resources from another, potentially unfavourable, investigation.

I wonder if he's been watching The House of Cards, sometimes, but then I don't think he'd be able to understand the plot properly.

ohmymimi · 21/05/2018 17:03

'In the weeks after he became the Republican nominee on July 19, 2016, Donald Trump was warned that foreign adversaries, including Russia, would probably try to spy on and infiltrate his campaign, according to multiple government officials familiar with the matter.

The warning came in the form of a high-level counterintelligence briefing by senior FBI officials, the officials said. A similar briefing was given to Hillary Clinton, they added. They said the briefings, which are commonly provided to presidential nominees, were designed to educate the candidates and their top aides about potential threats from foreign spies.

The candidates were urged to alert the FBI about any suspicious overtures to their campaigns, the officials said.'

Maybe his focus was elsewhere:
