In response to one of Trump’s incoherent WITCH HUNT! tweets in the last 12 hours, Rep. Adam Schiff sent this:

Adam Schiff Retweeted Donald J. Trump

Given all the secret meetings with the Russians, the denials, the false statements, and the guilty pleas, your attacks on the Republican, respected, decorated, Vietnam Veteran running the investigation could not be more false, or transparent.

Ouais

It's sometimes difficult to ramp up degrees of 'being terrified'. Everything that 45 does concerns me.......

Lweji · 10/05/2018 12:14

I wouldn't say terrified. The Middle East has been at war for decades, only shifting the actual locations.
Israel doesn't want an all out war either.
My guess is they're all playing for their base.

cozietoesie · 10/05/2018 12:18

It's NK that concerns me more than anything else. I wish 45 well in his endeavours but I fear that he's been overcome by thoughts of success.

TheClaws · 10/05/2018 12:19

It’s worrying Ouais.

Israel would happy lob a nuckear missile at Tehran - in the way a child is tempted to hurl a cricket ball at a wasps' nest..

Unfortunately Irans politicians have the tact and maturity of a 5 year old on Sunny Delight, and just want to flick V signs over the garden fence at the snotty kid next door, and shout 'stinky poo face' at them through the window.

Hopefully common sense and fear of getting royally stung with stop them both pissing about.

Iran hadn't the money (foreign countries still are holding a shed load illegally) or the publics backing for another war. People are poor, pissed on and pissed off with the clergy and their corruption (they are also the masters of the dead cat).

especially when the US would stick it's oar in - they are also desperate to get stuck in).

cozietoesie · 10/05/2018 12:30

My largest concern is the 'breaking' of the - in effect- nuclear ban. (I reckon that if that happens, many countries will feel ..........enabled to strike. And Israel is a nuclear power.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 10/05/2018 12:32

I think that's the plan..why else would he be kicking over a deal that had been working and kissing up to North Korea and Saudi?

Lweji · 10/05/2018 12:34

AsAProfessionalFekko

I think you grossly underestimate Iranian politicians.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 10/05/2018 12:39

Might find this interesting

He conveniently doesn't mention the 5 US prisoners still held in Iran though. What are the chances now of them being released after his hissy fit over sanctions?

amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/05/09/politics/us-political-prisoners-iran-north-korea/index.html
All five currently detained Americans on CNN's list, now that the three have been released from North Korea, are in Iran. They were all detained after the Iran nuclear agreement was put in place in 2015 and they include an ailing father and son, Baquer and Siamak Namazi, who have been detained since February of 2016 and October 2015, respectively, and were sentenced to 10 years in prison. Baquer Namazi was temporarily released this year for four days due to ailing health. Reza Shahini was arrested in July of 2016 while visiting family in Iran. Karan Vafadari ran an art gallery in Tehran and was arrested along with his wife in December of 2016 and sentenced to 27 years in prison. Xiyue Wang is a Princeton graduate student who was sentenced in July of 2017 to 10 years in prison.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 10/05/2018 13:21

I just don't think the public have the appetite for war - the politics is all around keeping the people in line (religious crackdowns when the economy is doing particularly badly, or people protest at lack of jobs) and fear of attack from Sunni countries (who particularly hate them and see them as the worst of the worst).

They hold foreigners hostage as bargaining chips as a lot of Iranian property and money was confiscated after the revolution and business deals pulled out off.

Remember a generation was decimated during the Iran/Iraq war and generations following have bailed out and gone abroad where they can, or stayed with little prospects.

There is little sympathy, trust or patience with the politicians but there is not a simple remedy to get rid of them - and as with other countries who have been ruled by tyrants - who is the opposition and what is their agenda?

The politicians aren't stupid, know that they are disliked by (so won't have any backing by) other ME countries, and know that they can't get into a war - but will sail a close to the wind as possible to piss their enemies off in a show of bravado. No one is buying it.

Fekko

Are you so sure that 45 won't buy it? (It only needs him.)

AsAProfessionalFekko · 10/05/2018 13:26

Is that man really really small?

AsAProfessionalFekko · 10/05/2018 13:27

I meant the people aren't buying it. 45 doesn't event try to pretend to believe what he says.

Gumpendorf · 10/05/2018 13:50

Trump is being played by the proper dictators. They flatter him and give him the spotlight that his ego needs. A proper President asserting US power would be a hindrance to their plans.

The NK deal is part of that - the hostages and a summit with talk of a PP constantly dangled in front of him and will ensure Trump keeps doing their bidding.

Meanwhile VP has called for Mueller to wrap up his investigation. I don't think it's coincidence he did that on the day they celebrated bringing the hostages home.

'In the call, Lecroy made a request "to put a 'flaming cross' in the front yard and hang his neighbor from a tree," the affidavit says.
"Five hundred dollars and he's a ghost," Lecroy said during the phone call, according to the court document.'

.@VP weighs in on the Mueller investigation to NBC: “In the interest of the country, I think it’s time to wrap it up.” @ElizLanders
