To find cashier’s throwing food into a bag very annoying?

This happens frequently to me but my most recent example is yesterday at the local petrol station. Group of kids at our house all different ages, I went out to buy them some ice lollies, bought about ten.

It’s one of those where they pack the bag for you and she was literally DROPPING them into the bag from a height of about a foot and a half on to the hard surface of the counter underneath.

I said v apologetically - “DCs will be a nightmare if they’re broken, can I pack them so I can get them back in one piece?”

And she rolled her eyes to the rest of the queue and pushed the bag towards me.

Fine if this is a one off, but this seems
To happen to me all the time with different things - especially in corner shops or convenience stores or petrol stations. They just throw food into the bag and I am wincing as I hear it clack against the hard surface. Especially as I have a fussy eater DC who if something is “broken” will refuse to eat it.

I bring it up every time. And I always get an eye roll of a sarcastic comment or “ok i won’t help you then.” AIBU?

I kind f get what you're saying as I think of my local shop. If you know you want a few things take your own bag in, then you hold the bag and pack it as they are scanning them. If you only want a couple of things decline a bag.

Just always say you'll pack from the get go
