So I posted about my fudgeing son the other day who has a issue at work

And after days of teasing it out of him he has admitted he was involved 🤬

He said he had allowed the person in question to use the vouchers at his till not knowingly at first but then knowingly

He said he never had the voucher himself

Just glad he finally came clean

One of the other boys their are 11 of them all in the frame for this had his meeting yesterday confessed all and is having dissapliry on Friday to be sacked no dobut

My son is already appyfor another job and hopefully he has learned his chuffing lesson I told him sometimes you need to have courage enough to stand up for your future

Why would he allow someone to commit fraud with no gain to himself guess he thought no one would care 🤭🙄 and going along with the others

Good luck to him with finding another job. (If he IS sacked!) Unfortunately, this kind of shit can follow you about for years..........

TrippingTheVelvet · 06/05/2018 19:27

Well at least he was brave enough to tell the truth in the end. That mustn't have been easy. He should definitely resign before being sacked though.

Metoodear · 06/05/2018 19:31

Yes going to take in his letter tomorrow as he’s not allowed in the building 🙄😕

Metoodear · 06/05/2018 19:34

UserV He I’ll be but he will resign before
If their is a sliver lineing it’s that at least he’s done this now when he’s a teen a most mistakes can be put right before adulthood and proper jobs

So hopefully lesson learned

He should speak to the union. It would most likely be better if he could resign before he is sacked. It will be difficult to explain this away if references are ever required from this job.

Crunchymum · 06/05/2018 19:35

Fudgeing?

Metoodear · 06/05/2018 19:39

Fudging meaning fuc*ing hell I like to save blushes

Emily7708 · 06/05/2018 19:40

I’d be dubious about him having told the whole truth about not using the vouchers himself. Sounds like he’s given you the minimum amount of information he possibly could, under duress. But hopefully he will learn from this experience.

Knittedfairies · 06/05/2018 19:44

I hope it all works out for him, but he should be aware that this will follow him for years; not all mistakes can be brushed under the carpet. (AFAIK, being a cashier is a proper job)

NCJaneDoeNut · 06/05/2018 19:45

I agree with Emily.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 06/05/2018 19:48

Sounds very very dubious to me as well. Is he really suggesting he (and presumably 8 others) happily let somebody use a fraudulent voucher at their till with no gain for themselves? And they may not let him resign before the investigation although they may after.

UserV · 06/05/2018 19:49

That's what I said @knittedfairies - theft and fraud is not something that goes away very easily, and may well not be 'brushed under the carpet,' and 'only being a teen' is no excuse.

And I am still Shock at the fact that ELEVEN of them are involved. Jesus Christ!

gobbynorthernbird · 06/05/2018 19:51

Why are you saying he allowed someone else to commit fraud? He committed fraud.

JustHereForThePooStories · 06/05/2018 19:51

If he didn’t use the voucher, how do you account for the money you found in his room?

Even if he resigns, the disciplinary will continue without him. If asked for a reference, the supermarket is likely to say he resigned whilst under investigation/disciplinary.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 06/05/2018 19:53

nd I am still shock at the fact that ELEVEN of them are involved. Jesus Christ!

Yes i am puzzled by this as well. I could understand and believe maybe 2 or 3 but 11 is just ridiculous. Why would anybody take the risk of letting 10 other people know they are effectively stealing from their employers?

Viviennemary · 06/05/2018 19:54

If he put it through the till knowing it to be a fraudulent transaction then of course he is culpable too. But he's told the truth and confessed so that can only be a good thing.

RainbowGlitterFairy · 06/05/2018 19:56

I'm sure you said on your last thread he is 18? so he's an adult and this is a proper job, resigning is a good idea but its not going to make this go away.

Takeaclimb · 06/05/2018 19:56

I agree with Emily too.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 06/05/2018 19:59

It's good that he has come clean. At least you can help him to work out the best way forward now you have the facts. Good luck, he's probably in for a bumpy ride, but loads of people make a real mess of their lives when young and still go on to live productive, useful, crime-free lives.

Mightymucks · 06/05/2018 20:02

As far as his future job prospects are concerned he’d probably be just as well to pretend this never happened.

He should look at either going back to retraining at college or doing voluntary work so he can get a reference from them.

NotTheFordType · 06/05/2018 20:03

Just to make you aware, some companies will provide a reference with "resigned while under investigation for gross misconduct".

I can't remember if you said he'd been there for long, but I'd probably drop it from his CV for now and just say he's been seeking work since leaving school X months ago.

At least if he resigns the company are very unlikely to take any legal action, so at least he's swerved a criminal record.

Hopefully this will be the wake up call he needs to scare him off doing anything like this ever again!

WishTheGroundWouldSwallowMeUp · 06/05/2018 20:04

could someone link to the other thread, or please explain what metoodear DS has done?

Metoodear · 06/05/2018 20:06

Mightymucks

He’s is at college this was just his weekend job

OP posts:
footballmum · 06/05/2018 20:06

Tell him to resign without notice. If he serves notice they can continue with the disciplinary process and still dismiss him for gross misconduct.

Metoodear · 06/05/2018 20:07

@RainbowGlitterFairy. He’s just turned 18 and this is his pt weekend job he’s at college
