Hi all, ok I suspect IABU as I know this is a radical opinion, but I'd love to start a conversation about the topic and hear other perspectives.

I am not a doctor, but I have an interest in nutrition and I have been watching documentaries about the topics and reading books.

It seems to me that the no-fat trend that was spread around the US and UK in the last decades of the 20th century caused so much damage to public health and yet it is so hard to eradicate!

Fat-free foods, like cakes, biscuits, and desserts, are usually pumped with chemicals and sugars to ensure they taste good enough to appeal to consumers. This is well-known and extensivey reported, and yet I see so many people buying these products in an attempt to lose weight. Not only consuming these products does not help weight loss, it actually increases the risk of developing serious conditions such as diabetes, thanks to the sugar these products contain.

With the obesity epidemic that we are currently experiencing on a global scale, surely these sketchy foods that trick people to believe they are healthy for them don't help solve the problem at all!

AIBU to wish all the "fat-free" junk food was banned and removed from circulation?
