If it's his tree and has no TPO on it and you don't live in a conservation area, yes.

RelentlessSylvia · 05/05/2018 12:12

depends who it belongs to. If it's his, and it has no preservation order on it, then yes.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 05/05/2018 12:12

I take it it's not in his garden?

NumbersLetters · 05/05/2018 12:13

It doesn't look like it's in his garden though. I'd be calling the council , if they have an out of hours number

Whattheactualfuckmate · 05/05/2018 12:14

No it’s not in his garden and he doesn’t own house

Smeddum · 05/05/2018 12:14

That looks like a car park to me, not a garden. Is it his tree OP?

Smeddum · 05/05/2018 12:14

Sorry x post. In which case if it’s on private land, call the police. If its council land call the council.

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 05/05/2018 12:15

No he can't as it's not in his garden (or at least that's how it looks f I'm the picture and I doubt you'd be asking if it was in his garden)

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 05/05/2018 12:15

Cross post. Call the council

Whattheactualfuckmate · 05/05/2018 12:16

Hi wife is there now taking pictures of him.

I thought you couldn't cut trees down in nesting season anyway

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 05/05/2018 12:17

Absolutely not then! What a cheek. Call the police on the non emergency number. He could be a real danger to people passing by.

Idontdowindows · 05/05/2018 12:18

Wow, talk about a cheeky fucker!

jaseyraex · 05/05/2018 12:19

Call the council. Doesn't look like he'd be allowed to do that. My cheeky fucker neighbour was trying to cut down the tree in my garden the other week (he got about six branches off before I spotted him and told him to piss off) and he got a bollocking off the council and a fine.

Whattheactualfuckmate · 05/05/2018 12:19

Can it even grow back being cut back so much?

OP posts:
gamerchick · 05/05/2018 12:25

He’s not allowed to do that. Someone in our street cut down a tree outside their house because it was in the middle of the parking bays and he really hated the branches near the car. The council pushed pictures of the now branchless tree through every door trying to find the person who did it.

GnotherGnu · 05/05/2018 12:34

Take a photograph of him doing it and report him to the owner.

KingHenrysCodpiece · 05/05/2018 12:35

Its a beautiful tree! Why the fuck does he want to cut it down?

SluttyButty · 05/05/2018 12:36

If tha land belongs to the parish/town/ local council then unless they've contracted him to do it, no he can't.

PotTheRed · 05/05/2018 12:37

If it’s not his tree and he doesn’t have permission then he shouldn’t be doing anything to it, however....

It’s a small tree and I can’t see how it would be dangerous to cut it down.

It might be that he is just pollarding the tree rather than cutting it down.
(If you park your car there he might be saving your car from getting sap on it. So he is doing everyone a favour)

Plenty of trees are extremely hardy to heavy pruning even out of season.

Pinga · 05/05/2018 12:37

Who does the land belong to?

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 05/05/2018 12:38

Placemarking

GummyGoddess · 05/05/2018 12:40

If he stopped then it could probably grow back, the one in our back garden gets cut back to a stump at the end of autumn but still is ginormous by the time summer comes around again.

OrchidInTheSun · 05/05/2018 12:40

I asked the council if my tree surgeon could take a bit off the crown of the massive tree outside my house so it wouldn't look lopsided when he cut off the branches overhanging my garden. They told me that if he touched anything except for the overhanging bits, they'd fine me £1000.

I would also call the police.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/05/2018 12:49

I’d also contact the police. See if they’re interested. By the time you are able to contact the council, the tree or at least part of it will be gone.
