This just popped up in my feed. Talking about someone that had an abortion as they wouldn't be able to afford the child without credits. It's not just an isolated issue, a charity says they've had a huge increase in women contacting about abortions as now they won't be able to afford to have any more children. I'm not sure what the answer is but this is very worrying

arent we all randoms though. None of us is posting under our real name.

We are, but the general consensus is that a copy paste of some twitter comment is not a robust argumen especially as this is some random.

You brought this tweet into the thread as some kind of appeal to authority, I am asking who made the tweet, It's a simple question as to if I should give it weight or not

Just link the tweet direct so we can see

I do think contraception services need to be improved in light of the two child cap though.

It was a two and a half month wait for me to get a coil fitted at my GP surgery. Same with implants and other longterm contraceptive methods, also with very limited choice over appointments. There's no family planning clinic nearby either. I think this needs to be addressed.

Wishing MN posters husbands use prostitutes has nothing to do with this thread.

That's low

HelenaDove · 07/05/2018 23:14

Mrs Birling...................sorry Gin yes it probably was a bit too much and i apologize But women are turning to the sex industry because they are being left with less and less choice and it is highly likely that one day the husband of someone who keeps voting for this could end up visiting one. thats all i meant.

HelenaDove · 07/05/2018 23:15

men have taken economic advantage of women in that situation for a long time.

But UC will make it worse.

To the people saying beans are cheaper, perhaps dog food was all that they had in the cupboard.

I think folk have no concept of what ‘no money’ is.
When you are in that situation where you have nothing.
Ongoing.
The previously unthinkable becomes an option.

Smeaton.
Hugs to you.
Was bad 10 years ago, before UC.

People are really going under.
It’s terrifying.

HelenaDove · 08/05/2018 00:06

Fucking hell Im so sorry to hear that. They really need to get to grips with making runaway parents pay CM in this country. Isnt it strange that we seem to have embraced so many American ideas but are reluctant to embrace their stance on Child Support.

RoderickRules · 08/05/2018 00:07

It’s women children and vulnerable hit by these reforms.
Sickening.
And people defend it.
I would wish it on you but I have more humanity.

RoderickRules · 08/05/2018 00:08

Sorry Helena, smeaton, livid at precious page. Some of these comments Angry

RoderickRules · 08/05/2018 00:09

*previous page.

Must step away.

Wish everyone struggling a peaceful night.

Tessabelle1 · 08/05/2018 01:11

Are you seriously kidding? We had an unexpected pregnancy 2 years ago now and I'd have done anything I needed to to pay for what my kids need, for example! I have 2 jobs, as does my husband, because we CHOSE to have sex which resulted in babies. If you can't afford babies then don't risk making one, pretty simple really

Gilead · 08/05/2018 08:57

Oh go read the bloody thread Tessa!

Tessabelle1 · 08/05/2018 10:01

The cap only applies to children born AFTER it was introduced. Anyone on benefits before that, or with children born before it was introduced is unaffected so it's in place to make people think before getting pregnant and not having babies they expect others to pay for.

AvoidingDM · 08/05/2018 10:16

While I do agree that the benefit system needed changing and simplifying and I support the child cap.

I don't agree with making people wait for week and weeks for cash. That has to be wrong and I don't see the logic to it. Is it a deliberate policy or it just takes ages to process the claim?

@LifeBeginsAtGin I am featured on that program and I can assure it is NOT rubbish! How bloody dare you?

Well if you are Lorna then your FaceBook is full of Left wing support - I wouldn't say Lorna was an impartial claimant.

LVXiii I work with benefits claimants in my work with a disability charity. On the ground, UC is not working. I see horror stories every day.

Off course you do - it's the ones struggling that need your service - I doubt you have queues of people waiting to tell you how easy they found it.

Midget I have applied for 364 jobs in the last 4 months and have had 1 unsuccessful interview

Wow, I would hazzard a guess you are either applying for the wrong jobs, you aren't qualified for the jobs you are applying for (you aren't applying to be a surgeon with only a NVQ2?) or your CV/applications need checking before being sent off.
