How can I stop 'helicopter parenting'?

Dd's work I feel is taking the mickey. I feel the need to step in, but know I should just leave her to deal with it herself. How can I stop myself from wanting to deal with it for her?

Breaks aren't always easy to manage in hospitality. If it's busy and you're serving 8 tables you can't just leave them to it for half an hour. Similarly if you're due to finish at 10pm and you still have tables, you can't just walk out on them.

She should be paid for the time she's there however. Is it a clock-in clock-in system? Does she get timecards issued every shift?

Discuss the work situation with her to help her (not you) come up with a strategy. ACAS could perhaps help her with advice. You should not contact her boss. She is effectively an adult and this isn't school.

Breaks are 20 mins unpaid per 6 hours worked. Not a lot. I never take mine. But they should be offering her her break.

Are they deducting for breaks but not giving them to her?

Basically. They don't even have a staff room to have a break in. They have to get changed in the corridor outside the kitchen, but luckily they do have lockers to put their stuff in

You really really need to stay out of this. She can handle this situation herself and it will be a great experience for her to learn how to do so.

What's the worst that can happen - a young strong teenager works an hour or two without pay. That's not so bad that you need to step in.
