No you only have to wait a week for sex, nothing to do with the bleeding. It can take a little while for it to settle in but the bleeding should stop soon.

That is a long time to keep bleeding, but everyone’s different.

Hopefully it does soon settle its getting very annoying now. Really hope I don't have to get it out as the reason I got it was for heavy periods but now im just bleeding constantly now haven't even had a day break

I'd go back to the doctors personally,
and ask them to check it's positioned correctly, unlesss they specifically said it would go on so long - seems a bit odd.

I bled for 11 months so if I'd waited for the bleeding to stop...

I had a ultrasound done about two weeks ago and they said it was in the right place. My doctor has now said she will ring gynae for me dunno why Hmm

There will be no issues as long as there is no pain. I just had the copper coil fitted and did SO MUCH reading on the Mirena and copper... some people can have bleeding for a few months before it stops, it just depends on the individual.

I bled continuously for six months and then for two weeks every two weeks for the next four years. Was a pain in the arse. So glad it’s out now, I’d rather have heavy periods for a week than intermittent light bleeding I can’t control!

LittleRen · 09/05/2018 12:53

So far my copper has been great... spotted for a week and had a normal period, maybe one heavier day. Definitely recommend! Although I know it could change it’s been better than I imagined and no hormones!

I bled for about 6 months which is not abnormal, according to the nurse I kept having to cancel appointments for smear tests with. I didn't have sex often as I felt completely grim, but there was no other reason not to.

Cazz10 · 09/05/2018 18:32

It really is annoying as some days can actually be alot heavier than others..I would actually prefer to put up with a period at least I'd know when that would stop but this just seems never ending
