To be livid with ndn

Been out all morning running errands for my elderly mother. Got back home after calling in to get a quick shop. Unloaded shopping, part of which were some plants and bags of soil for the tubs. Plonked them down the side of the house by my gate to bring straight into the garden later, the path felt all crunchy under my shoes, looked down at the path and it was absolutely stinking dirty with dried dirt.

Puzzled, I looked around to work out where this had all come from and realised that ndn had jetwashed their wall (which is the boundary).

They (or someone they'd employed) had come onto our driveway and path which runs up the side of my house to jetwash the wall. Done the job (very well actually as the wall now looks fab) but had failed to clean up my path slabs and driveway.

When I looked more closely my gate was covered in dirt, my recycling tubs were covered, Dh's hosepie which he leaves tidily along the path was stinking, my electric box, my front window and windowsill and also the portion of the driveway where I park my car.

Dh washes the cars and windows every weekend so I know everything was clean.

Bloody tamping, I stormed around to the ndn's to ask why they'd failed to clean up after themselves. They weren't in, luckily cos I was bouncing.

Anyway, I phone Dh in a flat spin only for him to tell me "well there's no real damage", no but the bloody place is stinking and the last thing I want to do is clean up a mess I haven't made.

In a right temper I've cleaned it all down but I'm fuming at their thoughtlessness.

OP posts:

Very rude.

Before you let rip, they may not know. Could be that someone did it while they weren't in. I'm which case they'll immediately put it right.. .

araiwa · 01/05/2018 17:47

Do you normally have anger issues?

PaulAnkaDog · 01/05/2018 18:08

Chill. It was a mistake. They probably didn’t realise that it had caused some dirt on your side. Such drama and angst.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 01/05/2018 18:09

it's only a bit of dirt...

SleepingStandingUp · 01/05/2018 18:12

Well its more than a bit isn't it and noe op has had to clean it all because someone didn't tidy up after themselves. Not surprised she's miffed tbf

Anasnake · 01/05/2018 18:12

Stinking ???

WhiteCoyote · 01/05/2018 18:13

I’m sure it wasn’t done on purpose op. You need some serious chill.

PaulAnkaDog · 01/05/2018 18:14

Miffed, yeah fair. Stomping round, ‘they weren’t in, luckily because I was bouncing.’ Is a bit ott for some dirt. Especially since it was in all likelihood a mistake.

SilverySurfer · 01/05/2018 18:17

Why should she chill,? The OP's fully entitled to be cross at them leaving a mess. If someone did that in my my garden strong words would be had.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 01/05/2018 18:17

'livid' 'bloody tamping' 'bouncing' - come on,,,,can't you just sweep it up?

WomanEqualsAdultHumanFemale · 01/05/2018 18:17

Don’t storm round. Go round and calmly ask them to come round and clean up the mess. Be all sweetness and light. Don’t give them a reason to refuse you reasonable request.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 01/05/2018 18:18

.oh you already have..

put a snotty note through their door.

Greenglassteacup · 01/05/2018 18:19

Another person whose husband washed the cars & the windows on the house every weekend Shock

BrilliantDarling · 01/05/2018 18:19

😂😂😂 "They weren't in, luckily cos I was bouncing." 😂😂😂

Greenglassteacup · 01/05/2018 18:20

That’s two posters in the last couple of days whose husband does this! Madness!

melj1213 · 01/05/2018 18:22

YANBU to be annoyed that whoever jetwashed the wall didn't clean up after themselves

YABU to be so angry about it when you don't know if it is the neighbours themselves or a company they hired who made the mess and you haven't actually spoken to the neighbours to make them aware of the issue.

If I had hired a company to jetwash my wall and a neighbour came round to say their house had been covered in dirt I would be mortified and apologise immediately, offer to clean the mess up for them and contact the company to make a complaint about the bad service. If, however, the neighbour came round all guns blazing without giving me a chance to do anything then I would be more likely to go on the defensive and not engage.

Okaynowimconfused · 01/05/2018 18:24

Surprised a few of you are saying that the OP needs to chill.

From what OP has described I'm sure everyone would be at least very annoyed!

OP, find out the full story first. If they got someone in to do it they may have been unaware.

Dancingleopard · 01/05/2018 18:24

Fuming !!! Wine

Greenglassteacup · 01/05/2018 18:26

There’s usually someone who swoops in almost immediately & asks whether the OP is “always such an angry fucker” etc

Greenglassteacup · 01/05/2018 18:27

Sounds like justifiable reason to fume

Cel982 · 01/05/2018 18:31

I can’t imagine being able to muster up so much righteous anger about something like this.

I’d certainly drop over and ask them (pleasantly) to clean up the mess. But I wouldn’t throw a strop about it.

category12 · 01/05/2018 18:32

You shouldn't really have cleaned it all up, as they're not going to appreciate how bad it was, they're just going to think you're making a fuss about nothing much. You should have left it and shown them calmly when they got back. If they're generally decent sorts they would then have cleaned it for you.

Smeddum · 01/05/2018 18:36

Actually I’d be pissed off too OP. Whenever we jet wash the driveway and back garden I always take care not to make a mess of the neighbours drive/paths and if I do, I knock on the door and ask if they’d mind if I cleaned it with the jet washer. It’s just good manners.

spiderlight · 01/05/2018 18:43

Very irritating, but your use of 'stinking' and 'tamping' made me smile - am I right in thinking you're Welsh? :)

Oldraver · 01/05/2018 18:43

Does 'stinking' mean something else in your world ?
