To ask what your wittering subject is?

Not exactly a TAAT but as we're talking about people who witter on about their totally random pet obsessions, do you fancy entertaining me (while I lie here suffering off some hideous lurgy) by telling me your pet thing that you witter on about?

For me it's probably animals. I find it really hard not to share the fact that I have seen a red kite/a woodpecker/next door's cat today. I'm so glad for Facebook now as I can post a picture of said wildlife and other people who give a shit can Like it. I don't know why I find them so fascinating really, maybe it's just that it's a damn sight more fun than talking about the news these days

Ghosty happy to meet for a sitter. You will appreciate this - I went to see Rod at the BFI a week or so ago for a viewing of a rescued documentary about him when he was 19, before fame. He sat in the cinema seats with Pen, a daughter, his sister and a few other friends/family. Afterwards there was a Q&A and I got to ask him a question (about changes in society in relation to sexual harassment etc) which got reported in the media!!
How is that for wittering?!

So many random things. My 'did you know?' facts are conversational kryptonite, but I often can't stop myself.

I did manage to avoid telling my (pregnant) line manager all about how Princess Charlotte died in labour because the royal physician didn't trust forceps and that's how we eventually ended up with Queen Victoria, though. I was quite proud of my self-control :D

I go to far too many psychology of serial killers/psychopath talks. I normally stump the hosts by wittering too much about errors in the data referenced etc.

I don't witter about other things so much as pick holes and rearrange what other people are talking about. But in a very charming non threatening way, until they end up flustered and then peeved at me I write a lot of fiction so real life plot holes may as well have a neon sign visually screaming 'BULLSHIT' and 'NOT ACTUALLY POSSIBLE'.

I do however witter about my 11m old son to one of my male friends so much that he's started referring to him as 'his son' too, just to make me snap out of it

But a fun one is when I get into a new fandom - can't help myself telling DH bits and pieces, even though he has no interest. (Honestly I usually save my wittering for other fans but sometimes I can't resist.)

Me: 'But honestly, X and Y are clearly IN LOVE.'
DH: 'They're detectives! They're partners investigating a murder!'
Me: 'Yeah but it's all about the SUBTEXT. Look, look at this diagram I've made showing exactly how little personal space they leave between each other in the morgue scene in episode 4.'
DH: '[sigh] Yes dear.'
