Not exactly a TAAT but as we're talking about people who witter on about their totally random pet obsessions, do you fancy entertaining me (while I lie here suffering off some hideous lurgy) by telling me your pet thing that you witter on about?

For me it's probably animals. I find it really hard not to share the fact that I have seen a red kite/a woodpecker/next door's cat today. I'm so glad for Facebook now as I can post a picture of said wildlife and other people who give a shit can Like it. I don't know why I find them so fascinating really, maybe it's just that it's a damn sight more fun than talking about the news these days Grin

Minimalism and how much better it makes my house look and my mind feel (boring to everyone else!)

My DD. Even my DH - her dad - tires of it.

Donald Trump. I’m a bit obsessed and I’m banned from mentioning him at home. I have a friend that I text regularly to get around the ban 😁

RickOShay · 30/04/2018 16:18

Pets. How much i love them.
The history of labradors. The garden. Tulip bulbs. How jealous i am of other people’s peony buds.
Can also waffle on about books.
But pets is my specialist subject.
Grin

I am a weather geek, could talk about it in great detail for hours. Cloud observations, wind directions, pressure charts, solar wind, El Nino, storm cells, coronal mass ejections, lenticular clouds, jet stream and so on & so on.

I know no one who shares my obsession, so generally limit it to "oh, it's a bit chilly today" and actually talking about the weather with people who know nothing annoys me so much, that I'd rather not!

In my own head I witter away to myself mand one of my greatest pleasures is sitting somewhere I can watch the clouds go by.

You're an ultracrepidarian. Everyone should follow Suzie Dent on Twitter.

Animals, books and murder. Recent texts to DH include several about a really big crow, and an arsenic poisoning case that took place locally (in 1833, so very topical).

It varies depending on my current obsession. ATM it is homemade yoghurt. A few weeks ago it was my robot vacuum. Who knows where my butterfly brain will land next.

How cartoon and video makers are trying to corrupt our children. Nobody gives a fcuk (not my friendless victims anyway) and yet I will still witter on about how Peppa pig is a evil little shite who needs a serious talking to, how I would love to meet the maker of 'bad baby' and literally strangle them (it's justifiable homicide your honour, I promise), Or how there is a serious lack of supervision going on in most, if not all these shows and encourages kids to do things dangerous shit that could kill them and me the minute mum or dad's back is turned.

Oh see, u got me started now

Mannix · 30/04/2018 17:14

Books - I love reading and am happy to witter on about my current book.
Feminism.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 30/04/2018 17:40

The weather. I am obsessed with it.

I am outdoors all the time and check the weather with an almost pathological frenzy.

I bore myself.

ILovethe90s · 30/04/2018 17:48

Horses, but luckily everyone at work, and down my stables, and a number of friends, Also talk horses. So my family are off the hook.

Although DH always says "Ooo look horsey" to me and points whenever he sees one, whether on tv or out and about. Grin

onalongsabbatical · 30/04/2018 17:50

Mannix what are you reading? (Waves manically to fellow book fiend.)
I'm reading Patrick Modiano's 'Pedigree'. And a couple of other things but that's today's main fare.

arethereanyleftatall · 30/04/2018 17:51

Mumsnet.

I think the vast majority of my sentences start 'on Mumsnet...'

I've found my people Grin

Amiga 500? I had an Atari ST. A few years back I managed to find an ST emulator and the game Damocles on a Reddit somewhere and poof an entire weekend disappeared. Oh, the nostalgia!
I get stuck on one game like forever and then don't do any gaming for ages. Skyrim will forever be linked to my kids' babyhood. I used to play it during their afternoon nap. And then last summer I went a bit nuts over No Man's Sky.

Brexit is also a constant topic in our house (also against - we live in Germany, DH is a national of a third EU country, we were gutted)

Anyone into gardening? Info through gardening obsession every spring and then by mid June I'm fed up battling the weeds and I want to concrete it over Grin

I witter about cost-cutting in hotel rooms. Where they only give you one mini-pack of biscuits in a higher priced room, etc. My favourite phrase seems to be, "It's one of those things that causes more annoyance than it would cost to put right". Just a lot of middle-aged muttering...

Geocaching. Ask me what I got up to over the weekend and I can keep you bored for hours!

Now if anyone can offer me any suggestions I'm currently in possession of a trackable that wants to visit zombie-related Caches.
