littkeredchairs · 30/04/2018 11:19

I hear people say things like

“My soul and spirit cried”
“My soul and spirit sank”
“He touched my soul and spirit”

What do you actually mean by this?

OP posts:
MyFriendFlickaWasAHorse · 30/04/2018 11:20

I have never heard this in my life. No exaggeration. .

unintentionalthreadkiller · 30/04/2018 11:20

Never heard it before.

mavismcruet · 30/04/2018 11:22

Never heard anyone say this. You must be around some very dramatic people Grin

MyotherUsernameisaPun · 30/04/2018 11:23

I've never heard this but might start deploying it at moments of inconvenience (like this morning when my teabag split) Grin

BamBamIsALittleShit · 30/04/2018 11:24

Never heard it

lavendargreen · 30/04/2018 11:24

Only ever heard people say that when speaking in Church.

PatrickMerricksGoshawk · 30/04/2018 11:24

Are you in church?

Aprilmightbemynewname · 30/04/2018 11:24

We obviously move in very different circles op!! Confused

AntipodeanOpalEye · 30/04/2018 11:25

Is this some kind a speaking in tongues spiritualist church saying? Never heard of it before today.

GabriellaMontez · 30/04/2018 11:26

Who said this? !!

Was it in a religious context? Cos even then I've never heard these.

Idontdowindows · 30/04/2018 11:26

Never, ever heard it, and I hang out with the hazy types a lot because of a bit of work I do.

KnittinKitten · 30/04/2018 11:26

Allan never heard of this!

I’ve heard “my heart sank”

ButFirstTea · 30/04/2018 11:27

Literally this is the first time I've ever heard this phrase! Whereabouts are you from? Is it a regional thing?

hooochycoo · 30/04/2018 11:38

Soul or spirit?

Don’t they mean different things?

To me-

soul is like your inner core, feeling bit of you .

Spirit is more outwardly, more like your personality

Interesting, i’m not sure if they are different or not

SoyDora · 30/04/2018 11:41

Never heard it OP. Who do you mix with?!

Eatsleepworkrepeat · 30/04/2018 11:45

Haha @MyotherUsernameisaPun the more minor the inconvenience the better Grin

Grandadwasthatyou · 30/04/2018 11:47

Never heard of that expression.

Leafyhouse · 30/04/2018 12:00

I would interpret 'Spirit' to be transitory, and 'Soul' to be something that has a permanent effect on you. So spirits can be lifted and lowered, but if someone touches your soul, and then e.g. dies, you'll never get over it, just learn to live with it. Likewise, if you walk into a jazz hall and it touches your soul, you'll spend the rest of your life seeking out jazz to lift your spirits. That's how I'd interpret it, anyway.

vampirethriller · 30/04/2018 13:52

Never heard of it, even in a spiritualist church.

Nikephorus · 30/04/2018 14:17

Haven't heard it but I can imagine some people using it on FB as a 'look at me' dramatic bollocks. Some people do talk crap.

thatsmyjoomper · 30/04/2018 14:32

Never heard it either 🤷‍♀️

paxillin · 30/04/2018 14:38

Never heard it. Sounds like music and a stiff drink.

SlowlyShrinking · 30/04/2018 14:42

I’m glad to say I’ve never heard it either

ButchyRestingFace · 30/04/2018 14:50
