To expect to be able to have a night out without being subjected to verbal sexual harassment?

Just that really....
Went out for DH's birthday last night (just us two) and on two separate occasions I was subjected to explicit, sexual comments. One was a group of men (easily late 30's) describing what they'd like to do to me but talking loud enough so I could hear and the second was as I was leaving a bar a man blocked my path and demanded I perform a sexual act on him . Much to the amusement of his mates.

On both occasions they waited until my DH was out of earshot.

I saw numerous other women experience similar behaviour. Other than call them out on it (which I did) what can we do?
