The strange, alien like yellow ball appeared in the sky for the first time this year so I dashed out and put the laundry on the line and sat in the garden in the sun. Now? It's bloody raining again.

Had three sunny days with temp 25c here last week(East midlands)
Can’t complain if the rest of the year’s shit.Grin
British weather is character building.
Still got daffodils in flower in my garden, every cloud.

Bloodybridget · 29/04/2018 19:15

We are on holiday in the Pyrenees atm, weather very changeable as you'd expect in mountains. I just looked at the forecast for London (where we live ) and while it's grim now, it seems to be getting much nicer soon.

CheshireChat · 29/04/2018 20:11

Last winter we moved next to a park in order to maximise outdoor activities, somehow that hasn't really happened seeing as the kid doesn't fancy being out in the rain and mud...

hmmm123 · 29/04/2018 20:23

I'm back in fluffy pjs ...

It's grim.. we had a brief treat last weekend of what it could be like and then back to shit!

My mood is so affected by the weather! I think for the sake of my marriage and mental health I need to move to a warmer climate ...

Doobigetta · 29/04/2018 20:32

It has been pretty crappy, but April quite often is cold and wet. It doesn't help anything to dwell on it and moan about it. One thing that makes me feel killy is when we get one week of nice weather early in the year, then it goes a bit rubbish and everyone starts saying "oh, that's our summer over then". Miserable twats. This is the UK. We never get an entire summer of uninterrupted sun. But it's also not that common for it to rain constantly from May to September either.

givemesteel · 29/04/2018 20:32

Yanbu, I'm so over it, I'd actually rather not have had that nice weather week before last as it makes this abysmal weather harder to deal with.

It's not the badness of the weather in this country, it's the unpredictable nature of it.

MrsDylanBlue · 29/04/2018 20:33

I have a fire burning here [santa]

MrsDylanBlue · 29/04/2018 20:33

*Sad

Redrunbluerun · 29/04/2018 20:38

I live on a hill near snowdonia (which is lovely), and we got hammered by the snow this year... we had maybe 10-15 days where we were snowed in. We’ve had endless rain and lower than average temps. This winter has been loooong and it can do one now! I think I might have SAD a bit!!

hdh747 · 29/04/2018 21:47

You've seen the yellow ball thing? - send the bloody thing this way. I wouldn't even mind a decent amount of rain. But it's been chilly and cloudy with a bit of drizzle for the last century couple of weeks. So I have to use the tumble dryer AND water the sodding garden. How is that bastard fair?

Namethecat · 29/04/2018 21:50

My dh is a great believer in turning off the central heating on a certain day come what may. I'm currently sat under a blanket and the room temperature is 15.4 degrees.

hdh747 · 29/04/2018 21:55

My dh turns it off about 5 minutes after I turn it on. And we play thermostat tennis till one of us collapses with exhaustion Namethecat.

MissCharleyP · 29/04/2018 21:55

I’m sick to death of it. Cold, wet and miserable. Even when the sun is out, there’s usually a freezing cold wind. I’m still in my winter coat and could easily have worn gloves today. It’s so annoying, we don’t get proper seasons any more, just constant grey. My mood is also affected by the weather, don’t want to go out or do anything when it’s miserable.

macnab · 29/04/2018 21:55

I couldn't agree more. I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of this fucking interminable winter. Today the sun was out, I foolishly thought this meant it would be a lovely day. I proceeded to gather up lots of washing and was delighted about getting to dry it outside instead of on clothes horses around the house. Then I went out to hang it on the line and the wind chill nearly cut me in two Hmm I am so over it now, forget Spring and just give us Summer - an actual Summer and not some big tease act like today Angry

athingthateveryoneneeds · 29/04/2018 21:57

I am not convinced winter has ended yet.

missyB1 · 29/04/2018 22:00

Bloody freezing in Gloucestershire today. And I’m sick of wearing my winter clothes and all the layers, God the layers!! My workplace is cold too Sad

AnyFucker · 29/04/2018 22:06

I seem to remember that there was a cutting north east wind until about mid June in 2016

hdh747 · 29/04/2018 22:07

Yeah, I didn't realise 50 shades of grey was the UK weather forecast.

Spudlet · 29/04/2018 22:24

It's wild here, and am currently racking my brains for cheap (free!) indoor activities for ds, who is not one for staying at home all day. A little bit of puddle splashing is one thing but tomorrow is forecast to be horrendous. He was wearing shorts the week before last!

I fear the local garden centre is on the agenda for us. And the washing is building up again, just when I was getting to the summit of the mountain too. Le sigh.

LanguidLobster · 29/04/2018 22:44

Fucker please don't be the harbinger of doom :(

AnyFucker · 29/04/2018 23:02

Nooo....not doom mongering

Just reminding folk that summer could be some time off yet

A couple of decent days in April is not a sign to get the shorts, flip flops and factor 50 out 😊

DrWhy · 29/04/2018 23:05

We had sunshine here this morning although it was still cold, by the time I started planting seeds out in the veg patch it was hailing on me...
However, looking at my notebook I was much more organised last year, planted various veg seeds indoors at the end of March, planted them out on the 16th of April and they were promptly killed by snow the following week... so I don’t think this weather is particularly unusual even for late April.
Next year I will get organised and plant the appropriate seeds at the appropriate times of year, indoors if necessary - honest!

blossomy · 29/04/2018 23:16

Only 7.5 weeks until the days start getting shorter again 😩

maxthemartian · 30/04/2018 08:52

AnyFucker I was (thankfully!) living somewhere warmer the first half of 2016 and I remember being confused as to why all my fb friends were still in winter coats in any pictures I saw. That'll explain it.
I did come back to a cracking summer though so I suppose there's hope yet.

FuzzyCustard · 30/04/2018 09:40

It is chilly and windy here today, but the sun is shining and there are just a few fluffy clouds in the sky. Off to the beach again. Feeling very lucky.

Who says it always rains in Cornwall?
