The strange, alien like yellow ball appeared in the sky for the first time this year so I dashed out and put the laundry on the line and sat in the garden in the sun. Now? It's bloody raining again.

OP posts:

I was getting confused as to what normal looked like. A quick look at last years photos tells me that this time last year we were in short and the garden was blooming,

We are wearing coats and the garden is too cold to plant seeds. Most unusual spring.

What will the summer be like? my veg seeds are normally growing well at this time of year.

winterinmadeira · 29/04/2018 17:33

I’m in north Wales and it’s been horrid all day - 6 degrees at 8am this morning and so cold from the wind. Heating is still on here too. I am v pissed off with it all.

GreyGardens88 · 29/04/2018 17:34

tbf it's been a long awful winter this year. Flowers are blooming a lot later than normal, It's practically May yet a lot of the landscape still looks in later winter mode with all the bare branches. Luckily I'll be in Italy in 12 days Grin

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/04/2018 17:36

Winter is coming.

cardibach · 29/04/2018 17:39

Ardant I love it so yes
You love grey, rain, biting wind and cold? Please teach me how!

lavendargreen · 29/04/2018 17:40

move to Spain then.

LOL, it's this kind of poster who says 'leave him then' when you are having issues in your marriage, and 'get a new job then' when you are unhappy at work, and 'take in some ironing,' or 'dip into savings' when someone is struggling financially.

Fantasists..... who think life is THAT SIMPLE. Hmm

OP, YANBU, this weather is ridiculous, and very unpredictable and reliable. It's very annoying.

Dapplegrey · 29/04/2018 17:42

I walked the dogs this morning wearing a thick coat, will scarf, gloves and hat and I was still freezing. The dogs (whippets) wore their warmest coats.
I'm fed up with it.

Armi · 29/04/2018 17:44

I just went to the village shop, in winter coat, bobble hat and gloves. It’s nearly May; I might normally expect to sling on my raincoat and not be wearing shorts or the like, but it’s proper winter cold out there, with a bitter wind gusting about.

I don’t want out of season, 30 degree heat......just normal spring sunshine and showers. I like to put a coat on and sit in the spring sunshine in the garden to drink a cup of tea. Fat chance at the moment. Can’t even be arsed to do the gardening because it’s so unpleasant out there.

Humph.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 29/04/2018 17:49

Winter has come! ( ned stark told us! )

DropZoneOne · 29/04/2018 17:52

Agreed. This is not normal weather for the end of April - as my timehop photos reminded me this morning.

Bloody heating went back on Friday but I'm damned if I'm getting the winter duvet out of the loft having just put it up there last week.

blueskyinmarch · 29/04/2018 17:54

It has been glorious here this weekend. I feel very smug because i live in Scotland and usually we freeze in the rain as the sun shines in the south but this time we have had the lovely weather. We have got the garden all sorted, tubs planted and loads of washing done.

AnyFucker · 29/04/2018 17:55

It gets nicer for the bank hol weekend

Hang on in there folks

Titsywoo · 29/04/2018 17:59

Every year we moan that the weather is worse this year. Honestly it isn't it's just a bit different sometimes. As I said earlier it was snowing here in Surrey on 28th April 2016. I'm sure we'll have some sunshine at some point. If you expect 6 months of lovely sunny weather you live in the wrong place Grin

LanguidLobster · 29/04/2018 18:00

It's gone cold and rainy again here. This too shall pass.

I was a bit surprised to have to put the heating on again though...

wanderings · 29/04/2018 18:04

Yes, forecast to be warm next weekend. But if we do get a rubbish summer I will be sure to go somewhere warm in September!

Lockheart · 29/04/2018 18:06

I hope it sorts itself out soon - we can't afford to be putting the heating on indefinitely. Shouldn't need it this time of year.

Sunshinedaze · 29/04/2018 18:11

I finally had enough of this horrid weather and can’t leave the UK soon enough!

KellyanneConway · 29/04/2018 18:13

I totally agree. Shitty, nasty bastarding Manchester weather. Left my daughter's in Wales this morning and the sun was shining but it was still cold and windy. I've just Just been out with the dog in the same clothing I wear in December, thick padded coat, walking boots, gloves and a hat. The house is freezing and I'm wearing a dressing gown over my clothes. Even farmers are saying it's been an unusually long, hard wet winter and spring has not bought the usual amount of sunshine needed to make the grass grow so the cost of hay and straw is sky high.
I would move to Spain at the drop of a hat if I could speak the language, find another job that paid enough to cover bills and support 4 children, provide a school for my step children, ensure that non residency in the UK would not affect my children's student loan entitlement and go and visit my mum every weekend.
Moaning about this stupid weather is totally justified and necessary.

maxthemartian · 29/04/2018 18:27

I am actually planning to move somewhere with better weather, but it's not going to happen overnight. I really really struggled this winter, was so desperately holding on to the thought of spring and now that's been a washout too.

AnyFucker · 29/04/2018 18:50

Come on guys. There is no better place than this country when the weather is good. It doesn't happen often, admittedly, but when it does we all forget the crappy days. Don't we ?

Lockheart · 29/04/2018 19:00

I don't necessarily want the weather to be good (i.e. sunny and hot, although that would be nice). I'd just like it to warm up enough that I'm not having to wear my dressing gown over my clothes and ration the gas.

The80sweregreat · 29/04/2018 19:04

I hate it too hot and become ratty and sweaty in the summer. I really am not a fan.
But this spring has been dire and I like a bit of warmth / sun now and again. If only to get the washing dry on the line.

AndHerNameWasCassandra · 29/04/2018 19:06

I'm in Yorkshire and although yesterday was a bit shitty today has been lovely. I've done two loads of washing and been pottering in the garden all afternoon, me and DH sat out with a beer earlier too! Would still like it a couple of degrees warmer and fewer grey days though.

The80sweregreat · 29/04/2018 19:07

South east here and it’s going to rain all day tomorrow! I did read about a May heatwave so you never know!

FuzzyCustard · 29/04/2018 19:10

It's been sunny and 14 degrees here in the south west today. No rain at all. We've been on the beach all day. I am lucky.
