People who change clothing from unsold packs should be criminalised!

Got a pair of PJ sets from sainsbury's last week, washed and worn twice now. While folding laundry just noticed the bottoms are a size smaller than the top. Thankfully not made much difference to my DD as she is small waisted, so does fit her but that means she'll grow out of bottoms before the tops! Why do people think it's ok to chop and change from sets as they like!?

YANBU. Also the people who go through mixed sizes egg packs selecting big ones for themselves and leaving some other person with 15 mini-eggs.

Petalbird · 28/04/2018 18:55

Even worse in primark when people take the 4 packs of pjs apart so the only pack left in your kids size has only a set of bottoms in it Angry

OhNotSoSaintMaria · 28/04/2018 18:57

It baffles me, with so much choice around why do ppl think they need to pull a sneaky one in?

What kind of mean spirited person would do something so cheap..

Not the same thing but I bought some trainers online from sports direct for dc and some cf had obviously sent them back after writing their kid's initials on the label. I couldn't be bothered to send them back as otherwise they looked new and she needed them the next day for school.

Some people are just twats I suppose.

Hoppinggreen · 28/04/2018 19:07

I remember trying to buy a dress and tights combo for dd from Debenhams when she was small and over half of the packs had no tights attached. According to the sales assistant people regularly nicked them because they had no security tag on the tights
People are arseholes

Ivorbig1 · 28/04/2018 19:12

Yabu they are not trying to gain something for nothing, just something that fits.
Complain to achieve tops and bottoms being sold separately.
Criminalised my arse.
You didn’t even know until you saw a number on the label !

I can't believe this! Am amazed this is a thing. It is awful.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 28/04/2018 19:21

Who knew this stuff goes on,gosh what a carry on

Minisoksmakehardwork · 28/04/2018 19:22

It's because they want a fitting set for their child without one being too big/small. Kids aren't always the same size top and bottom. With things like pjs I imagine it's someone with two children in differing sizes. Eg I have a 6 and 9 year old dd. They might swap sets around so they only have to buy one pack of pjs rather than 2.

It's irritating, but I always check multipacks of clothes now as I have been caught out before.

tillytrotter1 · 28/04/2018 19:24

Re eggs, we buy ours from the local farm, OH loves to come back with the pick of the tray! Sorry.

pigsDOfly · 28/04/2018 19:28

Came across something similar in a shop when buying knickers for DD. Several of the 5 packs has one pair missing. The shop assistant told us that it happens all the time. Apparently people will steal one pair of knickers out of several packs.

TheFirstMrsDV · 28/04/2018 19:31

Happens all the time in Sainburys.
Its a mystery why people need to swap size 10 knickers for size 20.

Billben · 28/04/2018 19:32

Yabu they are not trying to gain something for nothing, just something that fits.

So that makes it ok then🙄

Ivorbig1 · 28/04/2018 19:35

Bill of course not.... but the op thinks the behaviour should be criminalised.... that is a ridiculous reaction, she didn’t even notice the size swapping until she saw the label after it had been worn.... twice!

Jaxhog · 28/04/2018 19:36

Yabu they are not trying to gain something for nothing, just something that fits

No, it's THEFT!

pigsDOfly · 28/04/2018 19:36

Apparently it does Billben as long as they're getting what they want, sod everyone else.

OhTheRoses · 28/04/2018 19:37

How peculiar and very sad.

MargotLovedTom1 · 28/04/2018 19:37

I don't understand how swapping things around would mean you only have to buy one set of pyjamas between a six year old and a nine year old?? One would have the top and one would have the bottoms? Confused Can't believe you're trying to justify it actually Minisoks.

MargotLovedTom1 · 28/04/2018 19:38

Oh, you mean if there were two sets in a pack. Nah, still a shit thing to do.

MumofBoysx2 · 28/04/2018 19:39

If you buy them again from a supermarket go through the self checkout - I'm guessing the weight will be out ;-)

Bumpitybumper · 28/04/2018 19:41

I literally didn't know this was a thing.

I can understand the logic of wanting different sizes so can see why people do it, but it's definitely out of order. If you need different sizes then find somewhere that sells seperates, don't just mix and match from sets.

Ivorbig1 · 28/04/2018 19:41

I don’t understand minisoks
Pigs..... Yes , it’s annoying, so. Check the pack next time. Just like you check for broken eggs.
I maintain, criminalising, as the op suggested, is beyond ridiculous.

TookyClothespin · 28/04/2018 19:45

I bought a set of PJ's for DD1 from primark the other day. She took the tag off and put them on THEN we realised the bottoms are a size 18-24 months and the top is size 4-5 years. Got to trek half an hour back to Primark to see if I can change the bottoms. Not impressed!

pigsDOfly · 28/04/2018 19:48

I did check the packs Ivor, which is why I knew they all had one pair missing and I didn't buy any.

However I, and anyone else buying clothes in a pack, wouldn't need to check them if thieves didn't steal them.
