Got a pair of PJ sets from sainsbury's last week, washed and worn twice now. While folding laundry just noticed the bottoms are a size smaller than the top. Thankfully not made much difference to my DD as she is small waisted, so does fit her but that means she'll grow out of bottoms before the tops! Why do people think it's ok to chop and change from sets as they like!?

idobelieveinfairies86 · 28/04/2018 20:43

of course they are trying to get something for nothing!
If I can find sock slippers (bit like moccacines) for my dd I buy 2 lots because she needs a child 6 on her right foot and a child 10 on her left. I would never dream of swapping one slipper for another size.
As for pjs again just buy 2 sets or how about this novel idea of buying the ones that are sold separately, like I do for myself because my pj top needs to be 3 sizes bigger than my bottoms

Mamabear1475 · 28/04/2018 20:43

@RiddleyW
I don't buy women's underwear in packets. Therefore I can't comment on them

RiddleyW · 28/04/2018 20:44

It was the assumption that men wouldn’t be buying their own underwear I was noting.

Mamabear1475 · 28/04/2018 20:47

@RiddleyW
Oh right. He does usually buy them himself. It's the expensive gift boxes at Christmas are the ones I mean, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, I've yet to come across an intact packet

CadyHeron · 28/04/2018 20:49

Where are you all shopping?! Never seen this, didn't even know it was a thing!
There's some shameless, brazen people about.

letiziana · 28/04/2018 20:51

We had the same with pj's, took it back to sainsburys and got new ones

TheAntiBoop · 28/04/2018 20:53

Whenever I buy shoes in clarks/sports shops they always check the labels match

SirGawain · 28/04/2018 21:00

Even worse in primark when people take the 4 packs of pjs apart so the only pack left in your kids size has only a set of bottoms in it
YABVU even setting foot in Primark🙁

Re eggs, we buy ours from the local farm, OH loves to come back with the pick of the tray! Sorry. Nothing to be sorry about there - that's fair game. Lots of loose eggs, choose the ones you want. The situation I was complaining about is where the eggs are already boxed up in 15s, a random mix of large, small and middling, and people go through swapping out any small ones and replacing them by bigger ones from another box.

Hippee · 28/04/2018 21:05

My DH calls Argos "the second-hand shop". When people return things within the 14 day return period they often don't report any faults, so they get sold again (I don't blame them really, as it's much more of a faff to report a fault, which I always do). The worst we have had was a car CD-player - the man who came to fit it said that the cable was frayed, but he had a new one and replaced it, so we didn't worry - when it stopped working a few days later we had to pay extra because the model was no longer available and DH had to take another day off work to wait for the fitter - we never go there now.

Happygummibear · 28/04/2018 21:14

My df bought a pack of cold flu tablets in asda, got home and the pack was empty. Luckily when he went back they believed him.. apparently they had to increase security in the medicene aisle....

Can't remember if it was on here or another page but someone bought shoes in New look and when she got home she realised she had 2 left shoes. Went to take them back and the sales assistant wouldn't refund as she had worn them Hmm eventually senior person came on and did the exchange.

When I worked in shoes we had to triple check the box to make sure someone wasn't trying to buy 2 different size shoes.

Fridasfridgefreezer · 28/04/2018 21:22

Sainsbury’s. Always check. I’ve bought pants from there and then noticed the sizes had been mucked around. I was looking at some baby vests and there were 2/5 missing.

SecretNutellaFix · 28/04/2018 21:23

Last year I found on several separate occasions peoples shoes that they had worn into the store and helped themselves to a fresh pair of flip flops/ canvas shoes leaving their own on the shelf.
I've also seen people opening multi packs of socks to put a pair on to try on shoes. Then leaving them inside out on the floor in front of the footwear.

fridaseyebrows · 28/04/2018 21:35

Many years ago I bought a pair of trainers in a city a good two hours away from where I live. Got home to discover I had two left footed shoes - bizarre!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 28/04/2018 21:38

I never ever knew people do this!

MereDintofPandiculation · 28/04/2018 22:20

I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't do the same ... yet he seriously expected me to buy mouldy oranges if I wanted oranges! I suppose if the oranges had been massively reduced to compensate for the fact you'd only be able to eat half of them, YWBalittlebitU. But the store was being naive to think people wouldn't pick and choose in those circumstances.

BewareOfDragons · 28/04/2018 22:32

They were full price oranges. Mind boggling to think I'd pay full price just to immediately bin some!

TheHonSaucyJane · 28/04/2018 22:41

It's very annoying that you have to buy packs in the same size - I'm about 4 sizes different between the stupid oversized top and the stupid undersized bottom!

BUT that is not an excuse to fuck around with multi-pack stuff. I make sure i buy from retailers that sell separates/mix and match - it's not exactly hard!

dayinlifeof · 29/04/2018 07:19

People who rummage through all the meat, moving the meat at the front to get to the meat that runs out on May 4th instead of paying ridiculous prices for meat that runs out today.

I'll confess, that was me but it was 8am and the shop was quiet and I put the meat back properly.

Am I the only person that does this?

ILikeMyChickenFried · 29/04/2018 07:39

No dayinlife, I always take everything from the back of the shelf and buy with the longest shelf life possible.

higherupper · 29/04/2018 07:46

I do pick and choose my meat so I always get the best date available. Everyone does that though don't they?

I ordered some slippers for my dd once from Argos. I assumed they would be the right size as were all packaged up nicely. Wrapped up for Xmas.
One was size 4 one size 8Confused I did find it funny. I wasn't laughing when shop assistant told me I couldn't get a refund as it had passed the refund period! The fact that they had no more in stock made me realise some other child is walking round in slippers 4 sizes too big/small.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 29/04/2018 08:02

I wouldn't swap sizes around but I think it is fine to pick meat with a shelf life for your purpose. If I went shopping today I would happily buy a chicken with a shorter use buy date as I plan to use it today. On Wednesday I am doing slow cooked meal due to hectic after school schedule so will need mince to last until at least 2nd May. Mince for 29th April and chicken for 2nd May would be of no use to me.

OhNotSoSaintMaria · 29/04/2018 08:46

@ivorbig1 i didn't notice because my dd2 is smaller waisted like i said, which ironically didn't make me swap sizes like some people do. If it was for my dd1 it would have been more annoying as she fits perfectly in her god-given size.

And yes, technically it is tampering with merchandise, so juat as shop lifting is an offence so should this be. If the size packed clothing doesn't fit, find separate stuff!

OhNotSoSaintMaria · 29/04/2018 08:56

@secretnutellefix
It's soul destroying knowing the scabby fuckers have got away with it, and will because there aren't enough staff to stay in an aisle each all day while the shop is open.

I can feel your pain. I'm still so annoyed at this, and feel like I've been mugged physically. When you cant even trust the children's PJ section atyour supermarket... (lots of head shaking)
