Annoying things other posters do

user1485342611 · 27/04/2018 10:24

Just wondering what things other posters do that really annoy you?

For me it's the deliberate misconstruing of an opening post and then flaming the OP for something they never actually said or implied.

Also the posters who conjure up wild scenarios to try and prove the OP is BU - "How do you know the woman who pushed you out of the way at the bus stop wasn't rushing home to her seriously ill child and has only 2p in her purse so couldn't afford a taxi. Try to be kinder and less self absorbed in future".

OP posts:
FatBallsAndSunflowerSeeds · 27/04/2018 21:26

Oh bollocks I messed up the bold AGAIN.

That reminds me, posters who correct themselves are really anal and persnickety. Half the time I didn't notice the mistake anyway because the brain works it out for you and connects the dots so a sentence makes sense.

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2018 21:30

Yes that's true about the brain working it out.

I then find myself being annoyed that I didn't spot the mistake at all Grin

expatinscotland · 27/04/2018 21:31

Fuckers who come onto perfectly good, lively ghosty/woo threads and derail everything but repeatedly telling everyone they have a serious mental illness and need to see a doctor regarding their hallucinations and/or be screened for brain tumour. We get it! You want to let everyone know how morally superior you are. Now fuck off.

CosmicSpider · 27/04/2018 21:41

I hate, hate, hate the HTH thing. If someone did that to me in real life, I would lose my shit. Not in an "unhinged", "need professional help" way. In a way that clearly displayed how much they had pissed me off with their patronising shite response! Ugh!!!

I actually hate (probably unreasonably) the flowers Flowers cake Cake and wine Wine thing. I just hate them. I see a lovely, articulate post, well explained and interesting, and comforting just by the use of it's words... Then it is finished with a CakeWineFlowers For you OP. It annoys the hell out of me. I get the intention, but it comes across as a MN version of "Hugs hun"

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 27/04/2018 21:53

When did threads like this become such a thing?

It's a shame, I've been here for years and they appear with monotonous regularity with only one objective - to give posters 'guilty' of whatever bollocks nonsense a 'bit of a slap'.

Why is that so important to that you do that?

Olddear · 27/04/2018 22:27

A big long rant, then....'and breathe' that really annoys me.
Any disaster that befalls you 'drink some sweet tea'
Posters who 'are shaking with rage' on some complete strangers behalf.
And the posters who cannot emphasise how many red flags are raised 'more red flags than a communist party convention' one red flag is surely warning enough!

ificouldwritealettertome · 27/04/2018 22:28

Those who have an axe to grind about a particular subject who weigh in on unrelated threads:

OP: Can some recommended a good wax to remove public hair?

PP: Lots of helpful answers

Axe grinder: Why do you want to remove your pubic hair? Is your DH attracted to pre pubescent girls?

SconNotScone · 27/04/2018 22:33

I haven't read the full thread (which I'm quite convinced many posters have probably listed as one of their mumsnet pet peeves!) but my annoyances are:

  • "may I be the first to say: cancel the check/are you on glue?" etc etc.
  • the poster who writes a "witty poem" in response to a cheeky fucker thread.
  • the giving of names, followed by acronyms (cheeky fucker petrol station bitch, aka CFPSB)

There was another, but I can't remember it, and I'm a bit tipsy, so unlikely come to me any time soon, haha.

ilovetvandchocolates · 27/04/2018 22:57

When the OP asks for opinions on baby names with a chosen list then MN reply with a whole other list for the OP to choose from. No OP wants one of the names from their chosen list not yours ffs!

elephantoverthehill · 27/04/2018 23:32

I have read the whole thread. I started about half an hour ago, so I have now forgotten what I was going to say anyway.

elephantoverthehill · 27/04/2018 23:33

Oh yes now I remember. An OP alluded to it earlier but I hate 'Photo or it didn't happen'.

elephantoverthehill · 27/04/2018 23:34

*pp

POPholditdown · 28/04/2018 00:38

the poster who writes a "witty poem" in response to a cheeky fucker thread.

How could I forget this one! I normally try to RFT, but as soon as I see this I give up.

MexicanMouse · 28/04/2018 00:43

Another one that’s nrtft but those who >puts the coffee pot on< Does my tits in

ScreamingValenta · 28/04/2018 00:52

Putting "Thought not" at the end of a comment.

CadyHeron · 28/04/2018 00:55

I am sooo guilty of not reading the full thread. Trying to get better though

Same Grin
If it's 18 PAGES FRONT AND BACK I might tune out or fall asleep by the end lol.

GorgonLondon · 28/04/2018 01:25

This is my pet hate:

Poster 1: "I went on a date with this bloke and he turned up half an hour late and kept looking at his phone."
Poster 2: "OMG I think I know him! Does his name start with a P and he lives in Middlesborough?"

Because there could only be one man like that in the world, obviously.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 28/04/2018 01:32

"You're getting a hard time here, OP."

Someone ALWAYS wants to leap in with this, regardless of whether the OP deserves the arse that's being handed to them.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 28/04/2018 01:36

Get the fuck over it
Get the fuck over it
Get the fuck over it

I'm not disagreeing, but MN depends on people not getting the fuck over it. If we all got the fuck over it all the time, there'd be no MN.

And then where would we be? Grin

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 28/04/2018 02:07

"fuck off to the far side of fuck and when you get there, fuck off some more'

Makes me cringe for them.

Jessikita · 28/04/2018 02:18

People telling me that my opinion is “wrong.”

You can’t have a wrong or incorrect opinion. Just a differing one.

chestylarue52 · 28/04/2018 07:10

People insisting that you ‘report’ stuff

  • to the police
  • to HR

and that if you don’t, you deserve what you get, because you’re not ‘doing something about it’. There’s plenty of times when reporting something to the police of HR will make a situation much, much worse. Not everyone trusts the police (or HR for that matter!!) with good reason.

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 28/04/2018 07:41

People who start there posts:

'Been here for ages - Mexican house theif, penis beaker, cancel the cheque's

Oh well, you're entitled to the best advice and opinions then, because you've been here for ages. I save my shit advice and opinions for newbies 🙄

blinkineckmum · 28/04/2018 07:45

Start threads in AIBU because they had a petty argument with someone. And the OP is so long with every detail. So immature! Just sort your own arguments out!

Kintan · 28/04/2018 07:47

When people say giving you an ‘unmumsnetty’ hug - just offer a hug!
