DS1 has just gone back to school after having them - but as yet DS2 has no signs.......now obviously he could be harbouring them and be quite infectious atm but on the other hand I really could do with getting a few bits at the shop now - rather than waiting until 10pm once DH is back from work.......

What would you do.........???

I would go. He might not get it.

If it is genuinely a maybe I'd go , if he shows any symptoms no.

frayed knot - you wouldn't send him to nursery? what if he doesn't get it? it took dd a month to get her brorher's. I couldn't have stayed off work all that tinme plus ythe 2 weeks she had them!

cardy - I can't continue my 'normal' daily life until I'm sure he's had them - I've got after school services and meetings with the vicar (who hasn't had Chickenpox and is off to Florida on holiday in 2 weeks time) that I feel compelled to miss/postpone in case he's infectious and gives it to someone.

However - I will pop down the shop once I've picked DS1 up

it's definitely a maybe - DS1 got them from school (I presume) and as yet DS2 has no spots or anything to indicate that he may have them - but then DS1 only stopped being infectious over the weekend so it could just be a matter of waiting for DS2 to get the spots.......

I would go he might not get them. my ds did not catch them from his brother and they share a bedroom

How long ago is it since DS1 had then? Incubation is about 10-14 days, and DS2 will then be infectious about 2 days before coming out with spots.

I haven't known anyone here who would keep their child isolated or away from shcool/nursery ont he "just in case".

My ds got them last year - so did I - but dd didn't even though she was painting us both with calomine! You can't put your life on hold just waiting.

I would go with hulababy's advice based on when DS1 had them. My dd2 was in contact with a friend's ds who came out with the spots the day after she was with him, dd2 go the spots exactly 14days after this

DS1 stopped being infectious on Saturday/Sunday (Sun pm we were certain they'd all crusted over)......but the boy that DS1 probably got them from (at school) was back at school 2 weeks before DS1 got them.

Aims - he's only 3 1/2yrs old - starts nursery in September.

i would avoid pregnant women and tiny babies but that is it
you can't stay at home on the off chance he may get it.

but Amid - do I really want to risk giving my Vicar Chickenpox before she gets her (hard earned) holiday??

And I'm just concious of the fact (being 37 weeks pg myself LOL) that at the time that the risk of chickenpox is highest (1st trimester) you may not know that someone is pg.........
