get changed in the staff room in front of everyone? I mean, if you want to come into work in your own clothes, you should at least get changed in the toilets or something?

I get changed for gym in the toilet, and then try to leave without being seen mamil

stoneagemum · 29/04/2018 08:47

I can't be arsed to go to the toilet to change from office to site wear, I don't get the problem, if my colleagues have a problem then they either need therapy or locking up xx

diddl · 29/04/2018 09:10

Even if people choose to change at work I don't see that they should have to go to a toilet cubicle to do it.

bananamonkey · 29/04/2018 09:12

As a teenager I worked in a pizza restaurant and we all did it, mostly the men, I changed my top if no one else was in there, it was a tiny room and we had one tiny loo. Didn’t think much of it at the time tbh

GreenItWas · 29/04/2018 09:14

You should work at the vets OP! They come in all the time covered in cow shit and strip off to their reg grundies and put scrubs on on a daily basis, ladies and gents. Nice when we have fit locums, the rest of the time a bit meh but it's just bodies. Who cares? The crappy clothes go in the wash, we hang them out, they get dry, the vets and nurses get nearly naked to put them back on again. It's doesn't register on anyone's radar really.

flamingofridays · 29/04/2018 09:19

Why are you bothered? Does her body offend you?

I wouldn't care. Wouldn't care if it was a man either.

I presume you never wear a bikini op because imo its exactly the same.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 29/04/2018 09:21

One of the problems is that the people who design/build office space rarely include anywhere to get changed.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 29/04/2018 09:24

Oh this brings back painful memories. In Uni I worked as a waitress and in one job there was literally nowhere to change except the "staff area", no staff toilets etc. I changed job and assumed the same applied...had to be told the staff toilets were used for changing.

I still shudder. I am the least publicly-stripping-off person in the world.

MissDuke · 29/04/2018 09:29

I don't really see the big deal. We all get changed in the locker room, it is a communal space so we are changing together. There is a separate area for males mind you.

Addictedtohavingbabies · 29/04/2018 09:38

Reminds me of when I was 16 and worked in a bakery, we would all just change in the staff room as we were all female.
But we got a new male manager and everyone started changing in the toilet if he was around. Looking back, they should have provided a place to change as it's not nice for a 16 year old girl to be in her underwear in front of a middle aged man.

He11y · 29/04/2018 09:46

If they’re stripping completely to their undies, then having a natter and taking a sip of tea etc before putting clothes on, I may feel a bit awkward if I was sat with my cuppa in a small room.

However, if they’re stood in one place, have their new clothes ready and are simply pulling one lot off and putting the next lot on quickly, then I wouldn’t worry about it.

He11y · 29/04/2018 09:48

Wouldn’t do it myself though!

GlitterGlue · 29/04/2018 10:21

It's not unreasonable to suggest that management should provide a separate changing room, but sometimes there simply isn't anywhere to put one.

It's is unusual to get changed in a staff room used for eating etc. Not so unusual if it's a locker room.

Bratsandtwats · 29/04/2018 10:25

I don't think it's weird. I'm a nurse and everyone gets changed in the locker room in front of everyone else. It's been like this every place I've worked.

This, but then I suppose we don't view the human body in the same way a member of the public does.

I got bollocked for putting on an ankle length skirt them shimmying off jodhpurs, having been to the yard first. So I was fully dressed at all times. Some people are a bit precious.
