...how to manage pmt.

I'm a real grump tonight! I mean proper irritible. I feel horrible and low and want to hibernate for a week.

Surely by now I should've learnt to manage this few days before a period a bit better?

Any tips? Anyone managed to banish pmt for good?

I find my diet helps a lot. My pmt is mostly physical I.e. sore boobs etc and also clumsiness and a bit less tolerant sometimes.

The less processed and lower fat for me the better. There are a few things out there about diet that might help.
Tried the evening primrose stuff and did help a bit but I'm not v good at remembering to take stuff.

I used to get terrible pmt (have had a hysterectomy since).
I found it very helpful if I couldn't understand why I was feeling so angry to check it and find out I was due on soon - if I knew that it helped me let go of the anger if you see what I mean?

Periods are just awful. The last time one crept up on me, I was about to call into work sick. Then I realised I was bleeding and as such, it was "only a period", so I went into work whilst inwardly crying from how rough I felt.

No tips, just plenty of sympathy. I think it's just something we have to put up with until we turn menopausal. And I hear that's no bundle of laughs either...

I found magnesium really helped me, I took one a day through the month and it definitely made me feel more balanced. And avoiding dairy for the week before was helpful for physical symptoms.

Exercise like mad the week before the pmtvis due works for me.

LyricalGangster · 25/04/2018 22:28

Yes, pmt always takes me by surprise!

Dh will suddenly become hugely annoying, the DC will irritate me and I'll snap at them, etc, then a day or two later my period will start and I'll think 'ahhhhh, that's why x,y,z annoyed me' . what has helped is setting a reminder on my phone a few days before I'm due on, just seeing that reminder somehow helps me to rationalise my behaviour and I'm more aware that its my hormones and I'll try and rein in the snappy behaviour. That, and chocolate.

I find evening primrose oil makes a real difference.

I take your 25 years and raise you to 38!

Sorry, not really very helpful but I can empathise completely.

I spent the day wanting to alternatively scream or break china and now I'm getting cramps so at least I know why I was feeling so tense.

I’ve found 4g a day of myoinositol profoundly improved my PMS and made my periods more regular.

Thanks all, I'll try some of the tips! In the meantime I'll hide away and eat chocolate!CakeWine
