Royal Baby name making me rage

ItWillAllBeFine · 25/04/2018 21:46

Firstly, I know that I am ridiculous and unreasonable and totally over invested but it is GIVING ME THE ABSOLUTE RAGE that the Royals haven't released the name of the baby yet. I'm sure they are doing it deliberately just to exercise the tiny scraping of power they actually have over us. They are doing evil laughs behind the curtains of Buck House and saying "let the commoners wait..."

CaffeineAndCrochet · 26/04/2018 07:51

Would they really go for James and risk all the 'after Harry's real dad' jokes?

winterwonderly · 26/04/2018 07:56

It must be announced today. George and Charlotte's names were announced 2 days after they were born and we're now on Day 3. I'm thinking they will announce mid morning, in time for the lunch time news bulletins.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 26/04/2018 08:00

I think there will be a William in there somewhere (obviously not as first name) but perhaps Arthur Philip William?

pompomcat · 26/04/2018 08:00

@altiara 😂😂😂
Prince Balonz. Fingers crossed for Balonz Nigel, or similar?!

KeithLeMonde · 26/04/2018 08:05

Balonz Grin

Shodan · 26/04/2018 08:08

Ethelred.

Elfweard.

Or my particular favourite, Sweyn Forkbeard.

Maybe all three, with Dwayne 'The Rock' thrown in somewhere in the middle.

Prince Sweyn-Forkbeard Elfweardred Dwayne 'The Rock' Windsor. (because who doesn't like a contraction and a hyphen)

ShortBook · 26/04/2018 08:11

I think it will be released mid-late morning too.

I didn't think it would be released yesterday due to it being Anzac day, especially with member of the Royal family attending services. Although that didn't stop me googling several times and start to follow Kensington Palace on Twitter...

bananafish81 · 26/04/2018 08:17

There's some cracking names in the royal line of succession already - although I'm tickled by 'Prince NN of Cambridge' Grin

Names in the top 50 include
Cosima
Senna (30th in line to the throne has the same name as a laxative!!)
Lyla
Rufus
Columbus
Davina
Tāne
Zenouska

There's multiple Marinas, Edwards and Alexanders too.

Sunafterstorm · 26/04/2018 08:25

I really think Athelstan is due a revival.

EventNotInData · 26/04/2018 08:26

I think that the Queen has made a firm request that they name the baby Albert and they’re trying to work up the courage to explain why it’s not a good idea.

Or, more sadly, that they’ve decided on Alfred and are waiting for the media heat to fade from the Alfie Evans story.

My personal pick is Aethelstan. If you’re going to go royal you should do it properly. Cnut also a great royal name but asking for trouble.

EventNotInData · 26/04/2018 08:27

Oh X-post! Aethelstan it is then.

qazxc · 26/04/2018 08:33

I think she's waiting to announce it at the wedding to steal their thunder. 😉

BarbaraofSevillle · 26/04/2018 08:48

I think the middle names will be Philip and Michael and the first name will be a traditional name that is currently undergoing popular revival so maybe Arthur Philip Michael.

ItWillAllBeFine · 26/04/2018 09:14

Arthur, so he can be Prince of 'Arts.

sorry... I'll get my coat.

OP posts:
Shodan · 26/04/2018 10:58

Well, if you're thinking Prince of 'Arts, OP, why not:

Artisan (VERY popular on Mumsnet Grin)

Artemis

Arthbear

Artek (although could be misspelt and confused with a nasty wall-covering...)

BlueSapp · 26/04/2018 11:01

the thing is they said they didn't know if it was a boy or girl so maybe they are having the arguments about what the name is because they hadn't a firm one for either

TheKimJongUnofFeminism · 26/04/2018 11:02

I think they want to call him Alfred and feel it’s inappropriate to announce it at the moment.

Oowatchasay · 26/04/2018 11:13

If Charles is back from France today and has met him this morning then I guess it will be released not long after. I don't think he has met him yet? Not 100% though, but I know he was definitely in France yesterday.

LarkDescending · 26/04/2018 11:15

Why do you think they want Alfred? It’s not a family favourite on either side. The last Prince Alfred (grandson of Queen Victoria) embarrassed the family and died in unhappy circumstances. It’s not impossible, of course, but doesn’t seem to be obviously their style, from what we know of it.

LarkDescending · 26/04/2018 11:16

Charles hadn’t met him before going to France yesterday, so may be making a first visit today?

Oowatchasay · 26/04/2018 11:19

Albert is in a few of the family's middle names but I can't see them going for Prince Albert for obvious reasons...lol

FairfaxAikman · 26/04/2018 11:23

I'm desperately to know for no other reason than I am a week overdue and I don't want to give DS the same name.

Blobby10 · 26/04/2018 11:25

Apparently William said they didn't make the announcement yesterday as they didn't want to overshadow the Anzac service - however that was gleaned from the Daily Mail website so might be accurate, might not!! Grin

user1485342611 · 26/04/2018 11:31

Loving the posters coming onto the thread to let us know that they have no-interest-whatsoever in the new baby's name. If it's such a non-issue for them, why on earth would you open such a clearly titled thread?

kmc1111 · 26/04/2018 11:36

It’s not like it’s going to be an interesting or unexpected choice. Are people really on tenterhooks waiting to hear which of the handful of deathly dull acceptable names they’ve gone with?
