Davina making omelettes on Lorraine...really??!!

Just seen Davina demonstrating how to make 2 omelettes on Lorraine...she pointed out prior to this to the viewer that she is 'half french', AIBU thinking that this doesn't mean that she is a chef, and can't believe that she is paid on national telly to crack 3 eggs, mix them with herbs in a pan and pontificate how healthy the meal is and her kids love it??
In the next section she will no doubt show us how to make a cup of tea, FFS!

YABVVVVVVU to be watching such a pile of appalling drivel as the LORRAINE show, with the sickly sweet, sycophantic, irritating, talentless Lorraine Kelly. The show is a pile of pointless trash, and This Morning with Holly Gigglyby and Phil 'overrated' Schofield, is going the same way.

Both shows are like TV versions of take a break magazine, and adding the vile and putrid Jeremy Kyle into the mix, and the Godawful shower of shit that he puts out between 9.25am and 10.30am every weekday, the whole morning on tv, every weekday, is fucking wank.

Thank GOD for Netflix.

As for Davina, she is OK, but I don't like her as much as I used to. Frankly, I am bored with her banging on about her fitness and health and dieting. Give it a rest already! hmm

And like a number of other people have said on here, I can't believe there is a person alive who can't make a bleedin' OMELETTE! Come ON!!!!! My kids could do that at 8-9 years old FGS. hmm

The people saying 'I can cook really well, but have never made an omelette, and don't know how!' Give over! 🙄

sadie9 · 25/04/2018 12:43

Davina will have a cookbook out in time for Christmas. 'Simply Healthy Family Meals with Davina' or some such tosh.
With a load of other people's recipes tweaked by adding chives, or 'my own twist'. But the pictures in it will be lovely.
She's bored freezing her ass off on the ski slopes and they don't want her on Strictly.

My fave from student days is eggs on beans on cheese on toast! Try it. Sounds like 3 elements too many for Davina!

OuaisMaisBon · 25/04/2018 12:53

I'm half French, too. I love cooking, and was taught at my father's bicycle, beret and string of onions, but I cannot make an omelette at all, particularly not without breaking eggs.

soupforbrains · 25/04/2018 12:53

@Smeaton Grin

You mean you stopped eating this? Can I suggest that you fry a little onion first and add some chilli?

Basta · 25/04/2018 12:55

I love my omlette maker.

Is that what the rest of the world calls a frying pan? Confused

OuaisMaisBon · 25/04/2018 12:55

Genuinely, UserV Grin Tried again the other day. Turned into a sort of scrambled egg pancake.

smudgedlipstick · 25/04/2018 12:59

Well I can't make a decent omelette to save my life so I would have totally watched this. 😂

SluttyButty · 25/04/2018 13:01

Quais I should get dh to do a YouTube video 😉

user being a competent cook does not mean you can make perfect, fluffy omelettes cooked to perfection. It does mean that you can make a pile of shite rubber frisbee as previously mentioned by myself. It seriously took weeks months and a lot of omlettes of practice to master the bastarding method Grin

soupforbrains · 25/04/2018 13:02

as an aside @Smeaton every time I see you post I get I Predict a Riot stuck in my head for the rest of the day. I feel like it's been stuck in my head for weeks straight now...

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 25/04/2018 13:05

Davina talking about her Frenchness is as rare as Peter Andre saying he loves his kids. We know, Davina.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 25/04/2018 13:06

My mother brought me up to believe more than one egg a week was some sort of fucking scandal.

wurlycurly · 25/04/2018 13:16

I know loads of people who can’t make decent omelettes!

I'm now starting to worry that I'm delusional about the whole omelette making process. I know that I like it, but who am I to judge?

Apparently, there are quality and technical requirements or else it is not decent or proper. Who knew?

Bollocks to that, if you like it and it provides a meal, what else matters really.

BarbaraofSevillle · 25/04/2018 14:32

I love that hotdog octopus on a bed of pasta shells. Genius and even more creative than hot dog spaghetti

Davina making omelettes on Lorraine...really??!!
Middleoftheroad · 25/04/2018 14:42

I mainly eat eggs in cakes so cannot make omlettes, any form of boiled/poached/scrambled/fried eggs or pancakes well.

I do, however, make DS French Toast or Eggy Bread (also called 'Gypsy Toast' in the 80s by mother for some odd reason) as this was the one exception to my dislike of egg based dishes bizarrely.

I may watch the Davina clip on catch up if it's available as I think my boys (who eat scrambled eggs when DH cooks them) may like an omlette. Genuine question: do you just leave in pan to cook? How do you know it's cooked/not burnt at bottom?

It cooks in seconds. You need it to be just set, otherwise it goes tough.

And YOU are being YABVVVVVVU to assume that Lorraine was presenting when everyone knows she’s not bloody there half the time! They should really rename it to The Lorraine/Stand-in show.

Middleoftheroad · 25/04/2018 15:02

Thanks - i might practice but can't sample them...

soupforbrains · 25/04/2018 15:09

@Smeaton thanks.... Grin but it's no use went off humming it all through my lunch break. maybe if I pop my headphones on something will usurp it.

I have an omelette and scrambled egg based question....

I was raised that and omelette is only eggs (maybe a herb or two and some cheese sprinkled on AT THE END) but NOTHING added to the eggs before they're cooked, but a friend of mine adds milk and all sorts before she cooks the eggs. Is not this wrong?

On the flip side, I was taught that scrambled eggs can (but don't have to) have milk/water/herbs/seasonings etc. added but same friend insists they should be ONLY eggs.

Opinions??
