Isn’t that always the worst?!!
DS regularly travels on the train and it costs £30.50 including booking fee for an open return. I bought a ticket on Friday for the same price but when he got on today, it turns out it was an advance return
Basically, as he was on the wrong train, even though I had paid £1 more for the advance return, I now have a fixed penalty notice of £20.95! They were even threatening the British Transport Police at one point as DS had no money and I didn’t answer the phone when he first called.
Not really AIBU, just a warning to be very careful. They are unlikely to cancel my fine and have made money out of me and made my son look like a fare dodger.
