to think that there are no good nappies

i've tried every brand of nappies going and always had a problem. i was using asda's for a long time as i found them the best until they started splitting and leaking gel all over the bed in the middle of the night.

i thought i'd have better luck with a big brand so bought pampers. first night last night and it split and leaked in the night. tonight dd has had it on 1 hour and the elastic has snapped round the legs Angry

has anyone had any luck with nappies for night time that can hold a lot of wee or do i just have to do a change every few hours in the night?

Aldi and they do an extra absorbent range too. DC wear them 12 hours straight at night and never had a leak

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/04/2018 21:03

Do you have the right size? How much is she drinking?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 22/04/2018 21:03

Never had a problem with Morrisons.
Aldi were fine up to size three and then leaked horribly.
Asda gave dd awful nappy rash and pampers leaked too.

Mammalamb · 22/04/2018 21:04

Have you tried Aldi? I found them to be good! Have you also tried going up a size? I find that when my son is ready to move up a size he leaks a lot

Treaclepie19 · 22/04/2018 21:05

We used aldi initially and pampers now.
I size up when we get leaks too.

Dermymc · 22/04/2018 21:05

How old is your LO?

Is she drinking too much?! I've never had a disposable break or leak due to being overwhelmed with piss. They take a lot of liquid.

RedPandaMama · 22/04/2018 21:05

I've found LIDL the best out of all the ones we've tried. Also make sure your DC is wearing the right size. By weight my DD should be able to wear a size 3 but she's currently in 4+, the smaller sizes leaked or were too tight around the tummy.

Another vote for aldi nappies here, and moving up a size especially at night.

SchoolMoney · 22/04/2018 21:06

Tesco own brand? Never had any problems with them. Also what pp said about sizes!

Ariela · 22/04/2018 21:06

You could try cloth nappies, it's Real Nappy Week this coming week so lots of bargains to be had.
The advantage of cloth nappies is they are made to be reused so are not going to fall to bits on you. You can add more absorbency (boosters) as well as use a wool wrap to allow evaporation.

jorris · 22/04/2018 21:06

i stopped using aldi because a lot of them had dried glue in that scratched dd's bum don't know if it was just a bad batch though.

she's 15 months and in size 5+ does that sound about right? i don't think they are too tight but could try a 6.

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat she's breastfed and still feeds in the night so she does wee quite a lot!

Try a size up and a size down. DD had to go into 5's at just over a year old as she started leaking, and I put one of her 5's on my DS who's normally a 4 recently and it also leaked so it can be either way that sizing causes leaks.

I find pampers are the best for not leaking personally, with DD who is 1 and a half she kept leaking at nighttime so we put her in the pampers pull up nappies and they have a higher waistband so the leaking stopped.

Tartsamazeballs · 22/04/2018 21:07

Aldi since my little girl was born. Barely had any problems with leaks- only when she'd had a growth spurt and was ready to go up a size. Sainsbury's we found shite and cardboardy, superdrugs were a weird fit and pampers smell funny.

mirime · 22/04/2018 21:08

Must admit I found Pampers best at night. Tesco's or Asda in the day, but they both leaked at night once DS was sleeping for any reasonable length of time.

Sainsbury's were terrible.

DontFundHate · 22/04/2018 21:08

@redpandamama did you know the + means extra absorbent? Not a bigger size? So 4 and 4+ are the same size (more or less) but the + ones are just more absorbent. Just in case you didn't know, I was so surprised when I found out recently!

jorris · 22/04/2018 21:09

it's more that they are splitting and leaking the wet gel. they aren't completely soaked through but the inside fabric bit rips so there's a hole Envy

We find Sainsburys own brand the best and we size up for night. We've never had one leak on us.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/04/2018 21:09

Ok so you probably need to change her in the night. If she’s waking to feed anyway... I know I did with mine when they were still waking for night feeds.

MoonshineBabe · 22/04/2018 21:10

I love Asda and Aldi but neither were enough for my ds overnight. I'm currently using washable cloth nappy liners inside a disposable nappy every night. They're easy to wash as he rarely poos overnight, and nothing else has worked.

BubblesAndSquarks · 22/04/2018 21:10

At 15 months size 5 sounds right unless shes very slim, my DD2 is quite chubby and has been in size 5 since a bit younger than that. With DD1 she wasn't in 5's until she was 2 though as she was very slim.

DontFundHate · 22/04/2018 21:11

op see my comments about about + sizes. Size 5 sounds big for 15 months, what's her weight?

NotTakenUsername · 22/04/2018 21:11

A double of triple stuffed cloth nappy used to do the trick for my little super-tinkler!!

NotTakenUsername · 22/04/2018 21:11

SheepyFun · 22/04/2018 21:13

I'm afraid it's a case of what goes in must come out - we've had a lot of leaking nappies over the years; DD used to drink a lot. One thing that helped us was changing DD just as we went to bed (she didn't tend to wake during this); if we forgot, we were guaranteed an overflow.

jorris · 22/04/2018 21:14

it always wakes her up properly if i change her (she normally only half wakes for a feed as we bedshare) so i'm hoping that's a last resort.

thanks @DontFundHate i heard that too about the + sizes. she's big for her age she was 25 lbs just before her first birthday. not sure now but she was 98th percentile!
