to think that there are no good nappies

i've tried every brand of nappies going and always had a problem. i was using asda's for a long time as i found them the best until they started splitting and leaking gel all over the bed in the middle of the night.

i thought i'd have better luck with a big brand so bought pampers. first night last night and it split and leaked in the night. tonight dd has had it on 1 hour and the elastic has snapped round the legs Angry

has anyone had any luck with nappies for night time that can hold a lot of wee or do i just have to do a change every few hours in the night?

Disposable nappies hold a huge volume of wee. Most leaks are due to poor fit. The only time I had leaks with disposables was when I went up to size 5 too early. My 16 month old is still in 4's. What percentile is your daughter? I'd try sizing down again possibly.

TipTopTat · 22/04/2018 22:04

Also we only use pampers. Aldis started to leak after size 4 (we loved and used Aldis from birth until about 5m) and Lidls gave him almighty nappy rash in the 48hrs we used them. Asdas are shite. Tescos are shite. Morrisons are shite.

Havent tried Sainsburys but we buy Pampers in bulk at Costco for £14 for 110 or so nappies.

SusieSusieSoo · 22/04/2018 22:07

Mine is older now but I was advised to put a liner (absorbent pad) from a reusable nappy inside the night time nappy to absorb more wee as I had a big milk drinker,

In the end I just bought a bigger size because I couldn't face the washing. Worth a thought tho x

Atticusss · 22/04/2018 22:08

Sorry I missed you had already posted weight/percentile. In that case I'd go up a size or 2 instead. Also try Pampers pants. They are half price in asda this week.

jorris · 22/04/2018 22:08

she just wears her pyjamas over the nappies no vest. they aren't too tight but she's really wriggly so that won't be helping the nappy splitting situation!

Check you aren't putting them on too tight. I find it I do they rip near the sticky strips

Parney · 22/04/2018 22:47

OP I’d try the 7 in pampers, DS is same age and bf throughout he night too and we recently bought 7 instead of 6 when sizing up and they’re perfect!

thegreatbeyond · 22/04/2018 22:57

We use Naty without problems, size 5 on 18 month old, but we change in the night if he wakes.

Pinga · 22/04/2018 23:10

Washables :) And Tesco economy nappies.

We found both were better than any of the fancy brands. Cheaper too. And the washables were obviously easily better for the environment.

TawnyPort · 22/04/2018 23:14

she's 15 months and in size 5+ does that sound about right? i don't think they are too tight but could try a 6.

Mines 27 months and in a size 5 at night.

We've never had a problem with any brand of nappies.

happymummy12345 · 22/04/2018 23:18

We have only ever used pampers. Never had any problems at all.

RedPandaMama · 22/04/2018 23:20

@DontFundHate REALLY? Oh wow! They definitely seem bigger to me, like less tight on her waist! I had no idea. Well they seem to fit better than 4s anyway!

flamingofridays · 22/04/2018 23:23

Pampers have always leaked for ds but work fine for other babies. Maybe it's a shape thing!

We use aldis and we've had no problems at all.

BothersomeCrow · 23/04/2018 00:14

The weight of wee can pull the nappy away from the body and it leaks. Try a velcro nappy wrap (assuming you aren't up girl reusable nappies) and it holds the nappy in place - no more overnight leaks for me.

LadyLoveYourWhat · 23/04/2018 00:20

I'm going to suggest cloth as well, never had a single leak with ours. Going washable is not as bad as you think it's going to be.

ImSoExhausted · 23/04/2018 00:35

Sainsbury's own brand always gets my vote! The back is slightly elasticated so they fit really well, last all night with a SEN child who drinks about 2 bottles of milk. And they're reasonably priced!

Huggybear16 · 23/04/2018 08:32

Tesco own brand in the + sizes are great (so 3+, 4+, 5+ etc. as they have higher absorbance). We are using the 4+ ones just now and never leaked - my son drinks a lot too! The packet says 12 hours dry and, because he wears them overnight with no problems, I'd agree with that.

greendale17 · 23/04/2018 08:33

I swear by Pampers

OwlinaTree · 23/04/2018 08:36

I used washable but had to pad them so much at night to prevent leaks that it became uncomfortable for the baby! I'm surprised so many have no problems at night. I found washable fine in the day, but I used a disposable at night.

blinkineckmum · 23/04/2018 08:45

Is she very big? My 2yo and 4yo both wear nappies only at night. Both size 4. Tesco or Sainsburys and no leaks.

stargirl1701 · 23/04/2018 08:46

There are great reusables. I used a mixture of TotsBots, Bumgenius, Disana and Little Lambs with Motherease wraps.

Fab.

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees · 23/04/2018 08:55

I really don't think you can correlate age with size, my twin boys have been in size 5+ at night since they were about 6.5 months. They're not huge babies by any means, they're 8 months old and comfortably wearing size 9-12 months clothes. There is lots of room in the nappies and they'll be in this size for a very long time, but they fit well and aren't too big. By comparison, my twin nieces are in size 5s now at 2 years!

We fell out with aldi's as we went into the bigger sizes but have found tesco's good for the daytime. We use pampers for night time as we've found they're the only ones that don't leak.
