Is he the most unpopular mayor London has ever had? Knife crime is going up rapidly and he doesn't seem to want to discuss the murders in London. I don't know what he's up to, he seems obsessed with PRing himself and totally ineffectual. I wish we could replace him as soon as possible.

Police budgets have been cut and surprisingly that has had an impact. Not convinced that’s the mayors fault. There have been differences in recording offences which also makes the statistics difficult to compare to other years.

Unfortunately I do believe that there is another reason why he is so unpopular

I really like Sadiq actually. He's been very elegant and classy in the face of constant criticism and abuse.

I think the decisions to reduce the numbers of beat cops and also not follow up on minor crimes have had a serious impact (and are why we are now more full of crime than NYC, who have been increasing these). Not sure this is all his fault.

However, I do think it's a pretty poor show to have run on a campaign of affordable housing and to have built absolutely none so far.

I am a fan. It’s good to see someone from an ordinary background doing well. I also think he is much more feminist than Boris.

He was rather amusing over the Trump clash. Handled it very well. I didn't like him to begin with but have warmed to him. Definitely a class act after that awful fool Johnson.

Sadiq has tried to re-organise the budget to put more money into police budgets and other initiatives.

Perhaps you haven't noticed but the way the austerity cuts work is that they are devolved at a local level - so this is where the impact is felt.

Police budgets, community outreach done by the police and others, intelligence gathering (by means of positive relationships with residents), work with those at risk of joining gangs, those trying to exit gangs, those affected by gangs and crime generally - all cut to shreds by this government NOT the Mayor.

I can't think of anything more ridiculous for blaming the Mayor for not magically being able to make the budget go farther than it can go, when everything has been cut at a local level.

Is there a Northampton Mayor? Or a Worcestershire Mayor? I don't know. But you might want to have a think about what's going on in those areas, and then think again about Sadiq's performance.

He's not doing too badly considering all that and the limited reach of his powers.

He's also a very good ambassador for London.

I think Boris Johnson was shameful, frankly. This government is shameful. Utterly shameful. Honestly, if you're not appalled by the effects of 'austerity' being devolved onto local councils, you should be appalled by the 'hostile environment'. I'm amazed you're bent out of shape about Sadiq - there's way bigger things to get upset about.

Seeing as there have only been three London Mayors - Ken, Boris and Sadiq - suggesting that the incumbent is the ‘most unpopular mayor ever’ is a bit of a stretch.

He’s only been in office for two years and is dealing with the fag end of austerity, which is when all of the chickens come home to roost. Not everything shite hapening in London is down to his hand on the helm.

Conversely, not everything that goes brilliantly is down to his hand on the helm either - it can be an inheritance. Does he overdo the PR angles? Yes, totally, but that to me is a failing of our current political culture.

Want to vote someone else in? There’s an election in two years’ time. Whoever gets in, unless they have the money, powers and influence to effect massive societal change and reverse years of shitty Government policies (from all parties) they’ll have exactly the same problems, or ones that are on a similar scale.

It's not just happening in London. Knife crime is going up in my city too, it's due to police cuts. Sadiq Kahn just happens to be an easy target.

Sadiq is a follower not a leader, well out of his depth in London. Like or loath Boris, he was a leader. London is stagnating at the moment, I hope someone better comes along soon to take over because we need London to lead the way after Brexit.

His reaction to Grenfell was exactly right. And anyone who has the sense to stop the ridiculous Garden Bridge project gets my vote.

Sadia Khan is fine. Not his fault Tories are fleecing every public service and cut police force off to the point of nearly disabling them. That's what the Scotland Yard chief said I think.
Boris, however, is in a league of his own. Up there near Trump and Farage, etc. I don't think we can produce another choice idiot like him any time soon.

I’m not on Twitter, and haven’t lived in London for years, so don’t see a lot of what he says unless it comes up on the news. Some people I know think that he blames other people instead of taking responsibility.

I’m not saying I agree with them, I don’t actually know either way.
