That's it really, DP and I disagree. Do you park the car in gear or in neutral? Vote needed please !

In gear.

Yarnswift · 19/04/2018 13:59

In gear!

Luxembourgmama · 19/04/2018 13:59

In gear on a slope. I used to park in neutral but asked around and in gear is best apparently. On the flat always in neutral.

Theknacktoflying · 19/04/2018 13:59

In gear

In gear on a hill

PinkCalluna · 19/04/2018 14:00

In gear in case your brakes fail.

I was also taught tgat you should turn your wheels to the curb.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 19/04/2018 14:01

If you’re facing uphill, also turn your wheels away from the curb.

Knittedfairies · 19/04/2018 14:02

In gear. Which side are you on OP?

adaline · 19/04/2018 14:02

Always in gear!

MissWilmottsGhost · 19/04/2018 14:03

I always park in gear, it would feel wrong not to.

CluedoAddict · 19/04/2018 14:03

Neutral.

Wolfcub · 19/04/2018 14:03

In gear

AuntLydia · 19/04/2018 14:04

In gear. Always on a slope.

Shinygoldbauble · 19/04/2018 14:04

Always in gear.

FindoGask · 19/04/2018 14:04

In gear, always (slope or otherwise) If the handbrake fails the car won't move.

MrPan · 19/04/2018 14:04

In first if facing up hill, in reverse if facing down hill.

Alright1613 · 19/04/2018 14:04

I was taught neutral by my driving instructor.

Alright1613 · 19/04/2018 14:05

On flat

MrPan · 19/04/2018 14:06

Always curious about this wheel-into-kerb thing.

MazDazzle · 19/04/2018 14:07

In gear.

I used to leave mine in neutral (as I was taught to do by my driving instructor), but had an unfortunate incident where I parked on a slope and the handbreak failed. It was fine when I parked it, but when I returned the car was at the foot of the hill! Thankfully no one was hurt.

Poshjock · 19/04/2018 14:08

Always park in gear with handbrake off at the end of use so handbrake does not bind when the car is sitting for a length of time (ie overnight or longer). When out and about, I use the handbrake and only put it in gear if I am on an incline of any sort.

PinkCalluna · 19/04/2018 14:10

MrPan if your wheels are pointed into the curb and your brakes fail the car just rolls into the curb.

It’s rare these days of course but it does happen occasionally.

QuinionsRainbow · 19/04/2018 14:11

On a slope, normally in gear. Reverse if facing downhill, 1st if facing uphill.
