To find the ‘Old Romantic’ feature in the Sunday Times very, very bloody wrong?

Sitting in a waiting room, nothing to read. So I picked up last Sunday’s Times magazine, and there is a column called ‘Old Romantic’. And I thought, ahh, that’s nice, being a bit of a romantic and also quite old.
And it is supposedly written by a 79 year old man, about meeting a married woman (age undisclosed) for sex in a hotel. And not really liking her very much - “I catch myself taking a sneaky look at her watch”. And he doesn’t like the fact that she sighs a lot, “for no particular reason”.
Has anybody else read this? And can they tell me if this is journalism, or what? Am I coming over all pearl grasping and cardigan wearing here? Seems to me like it’s titillation for the ST readers, masked as some kind of interesting lifestyle feature. URGH URGH URGH.
I know it’s Thursday now, and most of these magazines will be in the recycling by now, but wondered if anybody else read it and had a WTF moment.

When I was online dating, older gents say 60+ were a right bunch of randy old goats. I had a bit of a wtf moment in a few conversations. One took exception when after describing himself (irritatingly louchely) terms of being a lothario bon viveur I said "what? "you mean a dirty old man?". Didn't go down well. The comment I mean. Didn't linger long enough to be enlightened further.

This must be the Sunday Times version of titillation stories Grin

Read it with jaw drop. Totally understand that a 79 year old might want sex and indeed get it, and heaven knows there are enough news stories about weird and wonderful sexual goings on in every generation but do I want to have a column about any of them? Not a lot.
