Surely it's ok as a one off... carbs, dairy, fruit Smile
I was feeling poorly and we were late for school.
What's the most random breakfast your DC have had ?

@Avasarala wind your neck in and stop spoiling a lighthearted thread.

noeffingidea · 18/04/2018 22:44

Avas no one gives a shit.

HannaPintura · 18/04/2018 22:49

Nee naw, nee naw, nee naw...the bastard food police have arrived, judgy knickers hoiked up 'n' all. Ffs, Ava, if it was carrot sticks and bloody apples all the time it would be a very boring life! Stick some jam in your hole and shut up!

Avasarala · 18/04/2018 22:49

I think it's very sad to find giving a six years old that pile of junk for breakfast "lighthearted" and funny.

Ava, has your child never had sweets or chocolate or mcdonalds?

Avasarala · 18/04/2018 22:52

We don't do jam or white bread in my house, or smoothies. You're just mainlining sugar with a smoothie.

There are plenty of tasty options which don't involve filling kids with unnecessary sugar. They just take a bit more effort than blending stuff up or taking scones out of a packet.

Paperthin · 18/04/2018 22:53

Sounds lovely - it’s a one off, not the end of the world Ava. Making me want one now though 😀😁.

HannaPintura · 18/04/2018 22:54

I would love to be as perfect as you Ava. Wait til your kids are older. They'll rebel and eat all the sugar in the whole wide world!

NoNoCharlieRascal · 18/04/2018 22:54

Ffs it's a bloody scone not crack. And scones are bloody lovely. Although I prefer cheese scones with salted butter all melty and warm.

Avasarala · 18/04/2018 22:55

We have scrambled egg on whole meal toast with a fruit salad. Or poached eggs with smoked kipper.

They've never had a McDonald's. They are allowed sweets but once a day at most.

It's really not shocking to say stop pouring sugar down your kids throats.

As soon as your kids get pocket money and freedom they are gonna be loading at the corner shop/chippy/kabab shop/Maccy D's.

HannaPintura · 18/04/2018 22:57

Would it actually harm your kids to have a cream tea for breakfast though Ava?

MilkRunningOutAgain · 18/04/2018 22:57

My DD likes leftovers from yesterday’s dinner for breakfast, so eats curry or stew or risotto quite regularly! And yes, we have had scones and jam, but not cream as far as I can remember! I think it sounds fun and it’s good to be different every one in a while.

HannaPintura · 18/04/2018 22:59

Sweets once a day...better watch their teeth Ava!

Slievenamon · 18/04/2018 22:59

I wouldn't even give my six year old scones, butter, jam and clotted cream in the afternoon. They do not need that sort of food. Then again, I wouldn't eat that much sugar in one go either. There is no need for it

Imagine living like this? So sad Sad

OP the only issue is the butter, total boak if you are having cream as well!

HannaPintura · 18/04/2018 23:00

Milk, your DD is the best! I love left over lamb rogan josh for breakfast! It's the best!

penguinsandpanda · 18/04/2018 23:01

I think DS in reception had two slices of beans on toast and chocolate cake with ice cream a few times. At least I didn't have to worry about him eating at school. Grin He's as thin too, 4th percentile BMI, but he's very fussy with his food being ASD but when he likes it he will eat a lot.

I'd rather they had jam than sweets. And fruit for breakfast - think how much sugar is in that! Wink

I also believe that smoked food isn't great for you either?

wurlie · 18/04/2018 23:05

Avasarala I dread to think of the salt content your poor children are being subjected to with their smoked kippers.

fizzymama · 18/04/2018 23:14

The furore over a scone, butter, jam and cream for breakfast is making me howl !!Grin nothing quite as good from me but my youngest at around 2yro went through a brief phase of eating his weetabix dry !!!!!
Poor avasarala think they missed the light hearted??
