To dress my baby in babygrow a

A few times in the last few weeks I've had comments that my baby must be 'dressed for bed' or 'has nobody got you dressed yet'. My Dd is only 12 weeks old but I don't plan on changing things soon. I love baby grows and I'm pretty sure they must be the comfiest thing around when your little. I've had her in few outfits (mainly just for a photo and to say to people she's worn their gift) but on the whole she's in babygrows/sleepsuits. I don't suppose I'm being unreasonable but am I being unusual? We've got years of choosing clothes and 'matching' things up ahead of us. What does everyone else do?

My DS was mainly in baby grows or very soft outfits until he could sit up and was more mobile. He's a toddler now and I still like him best in nice soft jammies Grin

Cagliostro · 18/04/2018 21:18

Same! Mine is nearly 6 months and she still sometimes wears onesies all day, at 12 weeks she virtually always was. TBH half the time I actually dress her in an outfit it’s only because I LOVE the dungarees she was given so I want her to wear them lots :o but I’m still more than happy to take her out in a babygrow. They aren’t this tiny for long :)

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 18/04/2018 21:18

I think mine stayed in babygrows until a similar age. They look so cute Grin

Mybabystolemysanity · 18/04/2018 21:18

We did all in ones until DD was really quite mobile. Well beyond six months. When she was really little, we didn't bother changing for bed as such unless she'd been somewhere like someone else's house. She was never a messy feeder. Once you're on solids it's 2-3 outfits a day.

HettySunshine · 18/04/2018 21:18

Definitely not bu. Babygrows are perfect for little babies.

TheSleeperandTheSpindle · 18/04/2018 21:18

My DS stayed in babygrows until he was about 6 months old. They’re comfy and practical, don’t see the problem. I’d love to spend all day in a babygrow if I could Grin

IWantMyHatBack · 18/04/2018 21:18

It's fine. Get her some rompers too for the warmer weather, they're great.

My DS wore sleepsuits until he could crawl, and only switched to joggers and a long sleeved vest then because sleepsuits drag down the legs of a crawling baby

Longdistance · 18/04/2018 21:19

I had dds in babygros fir ages.

They’re so easy, especially to wash. If it gets hot, the vest will do.

I love babies in babygros Smile

Bostonbullsmumma · 18/04/2018 21:19

I’m with you! I think baby grows/ sleepsuits are so practical. I take my 7 month old swimming once a week and on this day always dress him in a baby grow (as do most of the mums/dads) my MIL always makes a big deals of the baby grow if we see her! No idea why! In my opinion, definitely not unusual. I think only recently have I started putting baby in outfits during the day ( siblings old clothes to wear!!)

Smellyjo · 18/04/2018 21:19

I'm with you. I enjoyed the odd outfit out of novelty but I think babygros will be comfiest for tiny babas. You may have noticed already that people will have all kinds of opinions about EVERYTHING you do with your child so try to feel confident that whatever you want is fine and let the comment slide off you.

minniemummy0 · 18/04/2018 21:23

My baby is 6 months and is still in babygrows 75% of the time.

It’s only now I’m starting to think about 6-9 clothes that I’m starting to think I need to move away from babygrows during the day because I don’t think they are the best for crawling, I’m thinking vest, leggings, top as the staple to replace them, keeping the babygrows for night.

Hereshopingforimprovement · 18/04/2018 21:24

I dressed mine in babygrows till he went to nursery at a year old. He wasn't walking and they were much more comfortable for him. I was sad when I had to dress him in 'real clothes'.

April229 · 18/04/2018 21:25

Mine was in baby grows for first 6 months.

SlowSloth · 18/04/2018 21:25

They seem to grow up so quickly and I think babygrows make them seem more babyish for longer. My dd is almost 5 months and I've only this week started putting her in proper day clothes. My reason for the day clothes is that I'm using the carrier more and I've noticed that after she's all buckled in the fabric around her toes looks tight. I'm worried about her toes getting squashed Blush If it weren't for that reason she'd still be in babygrows.

LiitleAce · 18/04/2018 21:27

I plan on dressing my littlen in baby grows for as long as possible!

Ellendegeneres · 18/04/2018 21:30

Same. I remember a Mum bringing her baby girl in to collect her ds for months and that precious baby was always in a baby grow.
She looked so comfy, so content. It just stands out for me. So when I had ds2 I kept him in them as much as possible. I had a few outfits but he lived in his comfy babygrow. His dad ended up taking a load of clothes back to the shops because even he agreed that ds was far comfier as he was

Lana1234 · 18/04/2018 21:30

My 7mo is still in baby grows half the time. Only just starting to move to little outfits now. As long as they are dressed weather appropriate and happy and comfy then it’s all good Smile

tealandteal · 18/04/2018 21:30

There is a reason babygros were invented! Easy to change and comfy for baby. I only moved DS in to day/night clothes as I bought a big bundle of 6-9 clothes on eBay and there were less babygros so saved them for nighttime.

Scotstar · 18/04/2018 21:35

My little boy is 8 months now and wears a babygro the majority of the time. If not is joggers and a t shirt, comfy clothes! Other clothes are difficult to put on and I think proper jeans look uncomdy for wee ones but he has worn ones with soft lining before.

Yvest · 18/04/2018 21:37

I absolutely hate babygros after about 3 months and the poppers are a right faff. I like little footless rompers and leggings and a long sleeved vest.

Mammalamb · 18/04/2018 21:38

My mum used to moan about this when ds was a baby ; “why is that boy still In his pyjamas not in some nice outfit.” But I think babies in babygros are just adorable

StripeyDeckchair · 18/04/2018 21:45

My twins wore babygrows for months when they were babies, it was just so much easier. I'd dress then up for special occasions or visitors but day to day this was the easiest thing.

Once we'd got past those first few months they got dressed in "proper" outfits.

Calmingvibrations · 18/04/2018 21:47

I’ve only just started to ditch the babygrows during the day and mine is 10 months old. They’re just so easy and I reckon comfortable. I had a few comments from family about the inappropriateness of this, but I don’t care really.

Buxbaum · 18/04/2018 21:47

YANBU at all. Very tiny babies look ridiculous in proper ‘outfits’, especially stiff things like jeans. Separates somehow don’t look right until they can sit up. Anything with a waistband used to give DD dreadful wind, too.

theymademejoin · 18/04/2018 21:48

With my first child, I thought babygrows were normal baby clothes and that other types of things like trousers, dungarees etc were just for special occasions. I only found out other people thought differently when another mother at the creche referred to him (he was about 6 or 7 months) as the child who was always wearing pyjamas!

He continued wearing babygrows, as did his younger siblings, until about 9 months.
