To be cross with Lolly Pop Man....?

We had a lovely, lovely old lolly pop man at the school. He would yell at cars driving like loonies through the village and using the road as a cut through. Was always kind to the kids, called them flower and sunshine etc. Just lovely.

Sadly he died last year.

We now have a new Lolly Pop man. He has been there for 6 months, so has got used to the job. Nearly every one of the children say thank you when they cross the road or good morning etc. But he is just silent unless he is talking to an old bint and then we have to wait for ages for him to get us across the road.

Anyway - my kids always say please and thank you and he just does not even acknowledge them with a "you're welcome". He is an ex police officer and would have thought he would welcome a bit of manners from the younger generation. AIBU to expect him to acknowledge good manners?

I feel like telling my kids to just ignore him, but that would then be teaching them bad manners.

Perhaps you should get them to draw a picture for him and address it to the "GRUMPY LOLLIPOP MAN".
IF THIS DOESNT MAKE HIM TAKE NOTICE I WOULD BE SURPRISED.

Our lollipop lady is exactly the same. I alway say thankyou as do most people and she doesn't say a word, doesn't even smile.
