To be depressed where I live?

Okay, not actually depressed but feel incredibly down about the whole place and think it's as dull as dust?

I've been depressed in the real sense of the word so perhaps that's not the word to use.

I just think the whole town where I live is incredibly dead. I moved here 8 years ago when I married DH.

Anyone else feel this way? You can all probably guess the town, no doubt Grin

most of Britain is not much better than Luton.

I live in Bedfordshire (a dofferent more rural part) and wholly disagree with this statement. You need to discuss this with your DH and come up with a compromise. Letchworth? Hitchin?

No, honestly, that's harsh and untrue. And I say that as an Irish person.

I know how you feel OP. I once worked in Luton and it is indeed very blah. The centre seems to be being improved though, and apparently it’s one of the youngest cities by population so maybe it’ll be more lively?

Hitchin gets recommended a lot but it’s unbearably smug at times and in the last few years has become very crowded. So there’s bad stuff wherever you go.

Leighton Buzzard is near by. Houses are cheaper than Dunstable and there is a station with direct line into London (30 minutes to Euston.) The Town has a lovely Centre and lots of parks. Lots of community groups and events. Lived there 10 years and love the place.

Second those who have said compromise - 8 years is plenty long enough to know you hate it. Leighton buzzard isn’t far and is quite nice - lovely countryside, loads for kids, gyms, bars, train into London takes half an hour, decent schools. Worth a look?

X posts - Leighton rocks Grin

i CANT belive how pig headed and selfish some people are.

if jmy dh came to me with this - I would take it on board and look at ways round it - ie live near family within the hour but see what could be done - together!
