I'm 38, I have 3DC's just had a baby (hopefully my last) and I should have taken the surgeon up on being sterilised 😩

I've used the pill (many, many years) before & Mirena coil recently but they really affected my mood. In recent years I take anti depressants which really help with my mood.

What are my options? I've been so ill after this baby I can't face another pregnancy Confused

i've got a copper coil after 1 DC. it's practically perfect!

MerryDeath · 16/04/2018 21:00

my periods are a bit heavier but it's better than being depressed on the pill/any of the hormonal ones, it requires no input from me and I'm not bloody pregnant!!

I use the NATURAL CYCLES app!!
It has totally changed my life, have total control over my fertility with no hormones. I understand my body so much more too. It is the only certified app for contraception and it has en excellent track record!! It has a similar effectiveness as the pill. It obvs doesn’t protect from stds etc but great if you are in long term relationship. Google it.... it’s fantastic!

l have copper coil. It hasn't affected my periods but DP can feel it poking the end of his nob.

HildaZelda · 16/04/2018 22:15

Was on the pill for years and had to come off it last year for health reasons.
Using condoms at the moment and I absolutely hate it as I just don't trust them. I trust DH, just not condoms.
Have 4 friends who have used the coil at one stage or another in the past few years. One got pregnant, another had periods lasting 2 weeks plus, a third had horrendous pain constantly and the fourth had it get lost inside her and needed surgery to remove it. If it was the last contraceptive on earth I wouldn't touch it.

I’ve been on the Depo injection for about 4 years, no periods in that time. Best thing I ever did!

AnotherRanger · 16/04/2018 23:47

I had the implant put in at the end of January and so far so good, no period at all yet. Prior to that I was on the depo on and off for about 5 years and had no side effects or periods from that either. I only switched to the implant as I was getting pretty lax with getting the injection on time.
