Can you tell me about your depression and PMT?

I’ve had depression all my life and it’s been pretty much under control the last six months. I have 45g mirtazapine and 150mg zaluron daily.

My periods have been out of whack for a while but have settled back to being every month for the last three months or so, which is good.

However I seem to absolutely plummet in the days leading up to it. It’s the same feeling of nothingness and darkness that I used to get before my medication got sorted.

Does anyone else have this?

I don’t want to bother my GP with this and I haven’t got a psychiatrist appointment for a few months. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar?

Thanks for reading.

Bollocks, sorry. Meant to post this in Chat. I’m not being unreasonable to ask, I’m pretty sure Smile

Yes I have depression and anxiety and my mood swings are crazy. I love when my period starts because I feel so much more balanced. Before it starts I get terrible symptoms.

My mood plummets in the ten days before my period. As my period is irregular, I can sometimes spiral badly before I realise where the negative thoughts are coming from and (hopefully) claw them back. I recently learned about PMDD - maybe have a google about that. I've started to wonder whether what I spent my whole life calling anxiety and depression is actually a hormonal issue related to menstruation.

Thanks playing and ink. I’ll have a google around PMDD. It’s not something I’ve heard of before
