To think landlady should give a bit more notice?

Our new landlady has just texted saying she wants to 'pop over' and meet me and DH this weekend. I suggested Sunday (so I can have Saturday to clean!) and asked what time would suit her to visit. She's texted back saying she has a few things to do while she's down here and will call me when she's on her way over.

AIBU to ask for a more specific time? We don't want to spend half of our weekend waiting for her. Is she being a bit of a CF?

Maybe message back that she needs to give a time as you might be out

Ilove · 11/04/2018 20:12

No

She only needs to give you 24h notice

Today is Weds...

Nomorechickens · 11/04/2018 20:13

Yes, ask her for a 1 hour timeslot as you want to make sure you are in when she calls and you are quite busy that day

dementedpixie · 11/04/2018 20:13

She can't force the OP to wait in all day though. OP doesn't need to agree to the visit either

jamoncrumpets · 11/04/2018 20:13

I'm happy for her to visit. I would just like to know a time so I'm not potentially waiting in for her all day.

She only needs to give you 24h notice

Nonsense. That's for essential things like emergency repairs. Not for the LL to 'pop round' for a chat.

I'd ask her for a window OP. Tell her you have plans and you'd hate for her to get there and get no answer at the door.

jamoncrumpets · 11/04/2018 20:17

Ok, I think I'll msg her on Sat and see what time she's thinking of coming. If she can't give me a definite answer I'll tell her we've got jobs to do and can't guarantee that we'll be in.

Definitely pin her down, I wouldn’t dream of making my tenants wait round wondering what bloody time I was turning up! They have lives!
