To not bother wearing a bra?

lots2doooo · 10/04/2018 15:29

I personally find them uncomfortable. I don’t like how they dig in at the back and the straps annoy me.

Obviously not having a go at people who prefer to wear one, but is it ‘wrong’ to go without?

I don't wear them. I wear vest tops instead. Bonus, they're £4 each!

Rodent01 · 10/04/2018 15:30

Had a double mastectomy and no reconstruction post breast cancer, no bra always, it’s amazing!

ShatnersBassoon · 10/04/2018 15:31

Isn't this a decision that can be made by you alone?

FlibbertyGiblets · 10/04/2018 15:32

New poster wants us to bump gums about merits or otherwise of lingerie wearing choices?
HAHAHAHA.

mrsgendry · 10/04/2018 15:32

I only wear them at work or formal functions because I'm a bit 'nipply' without, otherwise I don't bother or wear 'bralette' style. I have a small chest though so added support is not needed

TroubledLichen · 10/04/2018 15:33

Unless you’re planning on only wearing a sheer top then of course there’s nothing wrong with it, you shouldn’t make yourself feel uncomfortable! However, especially if you’re quite busty and/or do a lot of exercise then you would probs benefit long term from some support (before gravity takes its toll). Maybe look into non-wired bras, vest-tops with a bra shelf, sports bras, sleep bras etc. as an alternative? Unless you don’t want to at which point crack on and feel free!!

immortalmarble · 10/04/2018 15:34

I haven’t worn a bra for years. Don’t know what size I am.

lljkk · 10/04/2018 15:38

I have thought I'd go for no reconstruction, Rodent01, if I ever had 2xmasectomy. How long have you lived boobless, how do things like tank tops still look reasonable? I don't like idea of being conspicuous for lack of breast.

Friend had both breasts chopped & said she got stared at A LOT by some women. She felt it was well-groomed women who were trying to understand the competition who stared the most.

Bringonspring · 10/04/2018 15:38

If your fitted right it shouldn’t feel uncomfortable. This being said, if you don’t want to wear one don’t!

HolyMountain · 10/04/2018 15:49

I haven't worn a bra in donkey's years, I'm not big boobed anyway.

I choose tight fitting vests to keep them in place under my tops, I work with 4/5 year olds and bend down a lot. On holiday I wear nipple covers as I hate nipples being on show.

immortalmarble · 10/04/2018 15:50

I read that as 45 year olds Grin

itallhappensforareason · 10/04/2018 15:51

If I could get away without wearing a bra then I absolutely would not wear one! Unfortunately at a 34H I don't have that luxury. Sad

Bossbaby12 · 10/04/2018 15:52

Not at all! I barely wear one at all anymore

Rodent01 · 10/04/2018 15:52

It’s been 3 1/2 years and if anybody has a problem with how I look, who the fuck do they think they are to have any opinions?!

Been at current workplace 2 years and people were surprised when they found out after a year or so - I think it’s obvious but apparently not.

I’m a size 8 and small anyhow, but it did look a bit weird when I was 9 months pregnant but no huge norks to go with huge bump!!

I didn’t want any more medics / surgery than I had to, so it was a no brained. Could wear bra and inserts but I don’t bother!!!!

Rodent01 · 10/04/2018 15:53

That was back to @lljk, not a random rant!!

PattiStanger · 10/04/2018 15:54

I agree with Shatners, why on earth would anyone need the opinions of randomers on what undergarments they should wear.

Have we all the ability to make a decision with crowd approval?

Rodent01 · 10/04/2018 15:55

Oh, and to answer your actual question @lljkk, vest tops are ok, I wear a lot of patterns, I just can’t bring myself to mind what anybody else might think of my flatness!

SnookieSnooks · 10/04/2018 15:59

YANBU. It’s entirely up ta you.
I always wear one. I once saw a woman on a bus - probably mid 50s with probably AAA cups. They were really really really saggy.

InsomniacAnonymous · 10/04/2018 16:09

Do what you like, it's entirely your decsion. I couldn't go without a bra because I'm size 40GG and would just have permanently bruised kneecaps if my boobs weren't hoisted out of the way.

lljkk · 10/04/2018 16:14

Thanks Rodent. Hopefully not a decision I'll have to face, but good to know it can work out well.

At moment... I love my bras. Brain doesn't engage without one on.

Charolais · 10/04/2018 16:21

Rodent01 I wouldn’t mind at all to be like you, ‘boobless’ as PP called it, and I certainly wouldn’t care what other people thought. I was a ‘late-bloomer’ and was flat chested most of my teens and I LOVED IT. I was so disappointed when I was 21 & pregnant grew breasts - had to wear a bra.

I also understand your reluctance to undergo more surgeries.

@IIjkk I can’t relate to you at all. Not one bit. “Competition”?? lol For what?

MasonJar · 10/04/2018 16:22

Why were you staring at a woman's breasts and trying to guess her age and cup size?

OneStepSideways · 10/04/2018 16:26

I wear one during the day because I feel undressed without. I have small boobs but prefer them to be supported and not to show nipple through tops. I thought breast tissue needs support so it doesn't stretch and sag?

All my bras are non-wired, soft, lightly padded ones or sports bra/crop tops. They give a nice silhouette under tops.

SomeKnobend · 10/04/2018 16:32

Yanbu. I am generously proportioned and I cba to wear a bra either. I'm sure people would rather not see it, but I put my all day every day comfort before the 2 seconds of someone else's mild disgust before they look elsewhere! I'm not here for decoration.

HildaZelda · 10/04/2018 16:33

@lljkk, please don't ever again use the expression 'both breasts chopped' when referring to a double mastectomy. Angry
